Sadchild's "high fives" (every artist I like at least five songs from)

The singer moved on to Lo-Pro.

As you can see earlier in this thread, they didn't make five songs I liked. Kinda meh.

Then he moved on to Life On Planet 9

As you can see earlier....

Van Halen

Genre: rock, hard rock

Discovered: FM, "Eruption/You Really Got Me" circa 1983, then in 1984 a cousin suggested I listen to 1984 beyond just "Jump" and "Panama", then a different cousin got me into "Fair Warning".

Other: I like Van Roth over Van Hagar, but they're both good. My fav Hagar song is the title track to 5150. The albums I listen to start to finish are: VH1, Women & Children First, Fair Warning, 1984 and 5150. The rest, I like certain songs and can skip others. Except VH3 (Cherone), which I only heard the lead single of back when it first came out.

HIGH FIVE:

1. Unchained
2. Jump
3. Panama
4. Hear About It Later
5. Mean Street

Warrior Soul

Genre: heavy rock, metal

Discovered: don't remember

Other: Geffen signed them around the same time as Guns N Roses, expecting them to be as big. A million dollars and five albums later, they gave up. The only song of theirs I ever heard on the radio was #2 below, and only once. I saw them live in 1992. The main dude was also big into writing and reciting his dark poetry.

HIGH FIVE:

1. The Losers
2. The Wasteland
3. Downtown
4. In Conclusion
5. Love Destruction

For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge is probably the best Van Hagar album to me. Fair warning is of course the best of the DLR years, followed closely by 1984.

Wax

Genre: hip hop

Discovered: SXM, "We Can't All Be Heroes"

Other: This is the rapper who opened for Watsky above. Similar to Eminem in that he's very clever with wordplay, funny, not afraid to offend, and often heartfelt.

HIGH FIVE:

1. Rosanna
2. Toothbrush
3. Good Night
4. Coins
5. I Ain't A Real Man

WeirdAl_Hi-Res_1.jpg

Weird Al

Genre: comedy/parody

Discovered: cousin singing "My Bologna" and "Another One Rides The Bus", then MTV "Eat It"

Other: Back in 1989, if I asked you to tell me who will still be cranking out top 40 hits consistently over the next few decades, you'd probably say Michael Jackson and Madonna. And you'd be right. But would you have said Weird Al? If so, you'd be right! He is officially the third artist to score a top 40 hit in four consecutive decades (U2 is fourth, Kenny G is fifth).

I already shared that I beat Weird Al to parodying "Like A Virgin" as "Like A Surgeon" (well, I did mine before he released his version).

HIGH FIVE:

1. Eat It
2. It's All About The Pentiums
3. The Saga Begins
4. White & Nerdy
5. Smells Like Nirvana

No-White-Zombie-Reunion.jpg

White Zombie

Genre: alt metal, groove metal

Discovered: MTV, "Thunder Kiss 65" (with the rest of the world)

Other: Like Deftones, Faith No More, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers... these guys also forged their own unique sound in rock that made the 90s so great for hard and heavy music.

HIGH FIVE:

1. Blood Milk And Sky
2. Welcome To Planet MF/Psychoholic Slag
3. El Phantasmo And The Chicken-Run Blast-O-Rama
4. Feed The Gods
5. Thunder Kiss '65
