Even when I saw a picture of him, nothing.Who?
Yes, I have thoughts, and here they are. While I have often embraced the same populism stance as you - this country is so out-of-it, they only respond to well-known names - I don't think that's going to work now. Hillary needs to go away. Bloomberg is un-electable, because he's basically only supported by democrats. The fact that he was a member of the R party is meaningless. Al Gore hasn't left a good legacy for himself. The enviro people who like his work in that area, dislike him in other areas. The rest of the population just dislikes him.I was listening to Michael Smerconish a couple days ago. He says he doesn't think that any of the candidates in the Democratic field can beat Trump. He said Hillary Clinton or Michael Bloomberg need to enter the field. That they're more electable than the others.
I tend to agree.
But how about Al Gore? Since 2000, he's never thrown his hat into the ring. I think he'd make a better candidate than Clinton or Bloomberg.
Any thoughts?
Nobody knew who Bill Clinton or Barack Obama were, before they ran. I'm hoping people will embrace mayor Pete, or Amy Klobuchar, or Tom Steyer - who's mostly unknown, but has enough money to run his own campaign. Otherwise, it'll have to be Biden, as I don't think any of the others are strong enough.
Imagine a Trump/ Sanders debate. Yelling vs. yelling.I spend most of my time in Minnesota, but even up here, they don't talk too much about Amy Klobuchar. It's Biden, Warren, and Col. Sanders.
My wife seems to like Pete Buttigieg. I had never heard of him until I googled him. Opinion?Yes, I have thoughts, and here they are. Elizabeth Warren scares me. She's favored by the left end of the D party, which is good for a nomination, but bad for electability. She seems much more chipper than Biden, but she's still 70, so she's old too. I think that her and Sanders' ideas about interfering in corporate America is a turn-off for many voters, and it would never get anywhere with our congress anyway. Bernie Sanders has broad support from both dems and independents, but aside from his age, I think his ideas are too nutty to get elected also.
Biden is the well-known centrist name, but it's like Weekend at Bernie's; just keep him propped-up, and maybe no one will notice. And he has lots of baggage. To me, Kamala Harris is like the president character from a movie, but I don't think she has what it takes.

That's mayor Pete who I mentioned. As a child, he won an essay contest, and was visited by one of the Kennedys. He's a Rhodes scholar, served in Afghanistan, and is a very good speaker. He's politically moderate, and he's gay. Also, he's probably not about to die. Plus, he's from the conservative midwest state of Indiana, which should offer a broader appeal than the northeastern liberals. My wife seems to like Pete Buttigieg. (my wife is an American.)
