I would be the wealthiest person on earth if I had a nickel for every time Donald Trump has squawked "Rigged!" and "Hoax!" and "Fake news!" and "Witch hunt!" and "Crooked Hillary!" He's like an orange parrot.

In the two weeks following Bill Clinton's impeachment, his favorability rating rose 10%. It remains to be seen if, or how, an impeachment – which is not a certainty, by the way – will affect Donald Trump's low favorability numbers. Clinton claimed, "I did not have sex with that woman Miss Lewinsky." Trump could have claimed, "I did not have a phone conversation with that man Volodymyr Zelensky" – but it's too late now. He already admitted it.

Being impeached doesn't mean he stops being president. Clinton was impeached, but he remained president.
He was impeached by the house, which means nothing unless he was convicted by the senate, which he was not. If the current situation proceeds, it's likely to have the same result. The odds of a 2/3 senate majority convicting him is zero-point-zero. So the impeachment process would serve 2 purposes:
- brand him as having been impeached
- show that the democrats are taking action

Unlike Nixon, the chances of Trump resigning are less than zero. The one thing we DON'T have to worry about is president Pence (for the next 14 months).

It's essentially symbolic till someone is forced to leave office.

With as effed up as politics are these days, you would expect someone that gets impeached and stays in office, would be done for politically. Not sure that would be the case now.

George Conway, husband of White House aide Kellyanne Conway, says he believes Senate Republicans will ultimately vote against Trump if there is an impeachment. However, I agree with Mister scotch: The odds of that happening are zero-point-zero.

Without knowing the identity of the whistleblower, Trump called him "partisan" and "close to a spy" and suggested the whistleblower committed treason. Trump may want to rethink his accusations.
