Pardon me, but do you have the time?

Well I just added another watch to my collection, the Michael Kors MK 8175.

I'm into watches. As a kid, I was into the mechanics of a chronograph, had a couple of Seikos. Then for years, I just wore one decently made watch, a Victorinox Swiss Army. Then I got the itch to buy a Tag Heuer F1, but while looking for a decent used one online, I discovered all these watch forums, and I ended-up getting an automatic Tag Heuer. Since then, I've tended to buy one every year or two, different types, different looks, some cheap, some pricey (none more than that first one).

To me, they're interesting, and it's mostly the only jewelry I wear. After decades of business casual wear, or weekend jeans/ t-shirt, it's about the only thing I can wear to show some style (I'm not a tattoo/ piercing kind of guy).

Pretty much this. I've got one decent Tag. It's not at the F1 level, but I got a good deal on it back in 1989 at around $650 or so. Most of the rest of em are much less expensive. Usually between 100 and 250. I've got a couple that I picked up from street vendors in Russia for $12 and $15 each. Winders. Still work too.

$20 Timex on my arm and a $9 digital watch for running on my dresser.

I don't get the fancy watch obsession.

I do like grandfather clocks.

It's the same thing but you can wear it on your wrist.
The mechanics, detail, and artistry, all with a fascinating functional purpose.

I own couple of expensive watches, like a Bulova but the rest average about $100 each. They look fancy, but I like to buy them cheap like off amazon.

I would have had you more obsessed with timepieces.

I'm interested in, but not obsessed over, being more or less on time. Like, I'll be there at a certain time, not five hours later. Thirty minutes? Sure. An hour? I can wait. But if I can watch two Peter Jackson films in the interim...

No, I like grandfather clocks for the ambiance, the mood. Nothing is as cool as grandfather clock echoing throughout the house late in the night.

I like grandfather clocks as well, I don't own one. But my sister and brother-in-law own one, it looks nice but it a bit annoying it dings every 1/2 hour which is strange, I thought it usually ding every hour on the hour.

Gee, I took a picture just like Wolf's (I like your collection - nice variety). BTW, in an attempt to dispel some of the perceived geekiness of all this, I'd like to note that I just received the watch box on Father's day. I won't list each one, it's a variety of swiss and japanese, some quartz, some automatic (mechanical).

This is like the $5 shake scene in Pulp Fiction. It's a watch, right? It tells time?
I already spoke about this; they're jewelry. I really can't believe I'm needing to have this conversation.

So you're saying nobody should spend more than the minimum on anything, and nobody should spend anything on things that are not essential to survival, such as fashion. Got it. Glad I shared this with you.
