The Tigers are doing much better than in 2003, when they won only three of their first 25 games and finished the season with a record of 43-119. The player with the highest batting average – .297 – was designated hitter Dmitri Young. He also led the team in strikeouts, with 130.

Today was my last leadoff offer game. Technically it was my son's but I need to work tomorrow so I gave him my ticket for tomorrow and grabbed an outfield general admission seat and sat with my son. Nobody claimed my seat so that was good. My son went early and got a jersey. They were out by the time I got there.

My son also was at last night's game. It was a squeaker 12-0 for the Jays. Tonight, the Jays got 15 hits, 11 runs and stranded 11 men on base. They didn't pitch as well and gave up 7. For a couple innings The Athletics (the homeless team) got 1 run and then the Jays countered with 3. The Athletics then got a couple and actually made the game close trailing by only 1. Then the Jays got another 3 shot. It was starting to look like if they didn't score 3 they would not score at all.

The Athletics CF was a Toronto native. He robbed Kirk of a home run. He climbed the fence and grabbed it. He made a couple other good grabs in CF. He also didn't make one. He ran way over to left centre and was heading also deeper toward the wall. He caught the ball in the end of his glove one the edge of the warning track. But he collided with the wall and the ball jarred loose. He was pissed at himself. He came in with a batting average of .050. But he got 2 hits and a walk tonight against 1 K. So good night at the plate.

My son's last game is tomorrow. After this we have 3 games over the next 3 months which are normal games with both of us going. Better seats not this extreme outfield seats 20 rows up.

The Rockies not only won the series against the Marlins (on the road, no less) they SWEPT the Marlins! Both for the first time since 2024. Now if you'll excuse me I'll be outside scanning the horizon for the Four Horseman!

We did our first regular game tonight. The Jays were playing the Arizona Diamondbacks. Some former Jays on that team which is always nice to see. The Jays have had some injuries so the starting pitcher was Lauer who is a pick up from the scrap heap. He pitched very well into the 6th inning when he was pulled. He left a man on third who scored later in the inning. The game was tight. The Jays got a first at bat HR in the 1st and scored another in the 3rd on a bases loaded catchers interface. I think they loaded the bases 2 times in the first 5 innings and got 1 run out of it. In the middle of the 6th inning the Jays had a slim 2-1 lead. But they blew it open in the 6th and 7th and went on to win 8-1.

We had regular seats this time. 500 level but right behind home plate and not 25 rows up. So the view was better. But the section was filled with morons. They kept standing sometimes to go get beers or just to turn around and talk to the guys behind them. This made the view often obstructed. We also had some asshole behind us somewhere making bird calls. I guess it was supposed to be a Blue Jay but it was damn annoying.

But still enjoyed a night at the ballpark. Our next game is not until July.

I believe Montreal should get a team again someday. I think other cities should get teams first like Salt Lake, Nashville, Orlando and possibly Portland.

Rays sale: MLB team in advanced talks for potential $1.7B deal, reportedly would stay in Tampa Bay

Looks like Stu Sternberg is finally going to sell the team. He just fucking over the fans in the Tampa area and walked away from a good deal for a possibly new stadium. Whenever Tropicana Field gets repaired and the extra 3 years on the lease is over. Hopefully the new owners can work with the city again and get that old deal working again.
Time to retire Tropicana Stadium. It was already a disaster pre-hurricane.

Montreal would be the last city I would put an MLB team. IIRC, the Expos had insanely low attendance, which led to them moving to Washington. If I did put a team in Montreal, I sure as hell wouldn't want to use Olympic Stadium!

I agree, but The Rays have a contract with the MLB to play there, and I don't know why nobody can break it. It's going to be tons of waste of money to repair it to play there for couple more seasons. It's almost easier to build a new stadium or better yet move the Rays to Orlando.

In three years, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, will still be the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, despite damage from Hurricane Milton and the collapse of a new stadium deal. The Rays' current lease extension through 2028 ensures their presence at Tropicana Field for three more seasons, assuming the stadium is repaired.

Don't know if anyone knew this or not. But they are repairing Olympic Stadium one last time.

The Athletics are playing their 2025-27 home games at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento. According to ESPN, their average attendance so far this year is 9,773. Wooh! The team will move to Las Vegas in 2028.

Don't look now but the Yankees are sharing top spot in the AL East with the Toronto Blue Jays. They Jays and Yankees play again tonight. So far the Jays have won the first 3 in the series in 3 wild games. Yesterday Jays scored a TD in the first and added a run in the third to be up 8-0. Yankees got 6 back in the 5th and eventually tied it at 9 in the 8th. Jays got 2 in the bottom of the 8th and hung on for a 11-9 win.

Maybe do look now. This might be the only time you see the Jays @ #1. Tampa Bay is only 1/2 back as well.
