If we figure out the money thing, I think that taking over ownership responsibilities would be equally as important.
It doesn't seem cricket to leave the guy with the hassle of dealing with a site he doesn't visit, even if it doesn't cost him anything.
Before that day comes, I suppose that we should organize and figure out what our options might be.
If we want to keep DRC running we'd need someone interested in taking over ownership, someone that can deal with the server and upgrades, and get people to agree that they are willing to send the new owner some cash from time to time.
(I don't have the time, energy, or expertise to take over ownership, but I can still do the daily admin stuff.)
If we find someone willing to take over, we can contact our current benefactor to find out how much this sites costs per year.
Other options might be to see if there are free sites we could set up. We'd still need someone to build it.
We could see if there are other existing forums that we could all join.
We rarely talk about satellite radios, so it mostly music, pop culture, sports, and current events that we talk about. I'd think that there are some other forums that might be a decent fit.
We aren't in imminent danger of getting shut down, but mapping out a plan isn't a bad idea.
