This is a major change. From now on, we'll be getting our fake news, conspiracy theories, threats, insults and incitements to violence from Meta, not Facebook. I feel so much better now. By the way, on December 1 the company's stock symbol will change from FB to MVRS (for "Metaverse").

This is no different than Google becoming a subsidiary of Alphabet. Nobody says "I forgot the name of that actor, I'll alphabet it".

The platform is still called Facebook. The only difference is that Zuckerberg is now the CEO of Meta. So he is separating himself from Facebook.

I’ve been thinking about dropping it. I don’t really post much anyway. Most of the time I just skim through to see what people are doing so that I don’t actually have to talk to them.

I post something probably once a month. Last weekend our cousins from NY came up, and afterwards, we posted pictures of all the local sites we went to. The rest of the family likes seeing that. Other than that, I only have a few friends who post stuff; it's mostly travel pictures, which is nice. And the local community forums are entertaining. I also get a lot from the Formula 1 site during race weekends. It's harmless.

And Meta's new logo – a ripoff of the infinity symbol – reminds me of the mask worn by DC Comics character Nightwing.

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram suspended Donald Trump's accounts in January because he spread lies and incited a deadly riot and they feared more violence was possible. Donald Trump then sued Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for suspending his accounts. Trump cried "Censorship!" and said his First Amendment free-speech rights were violated – but the First Amendment applies to government entities, not private companies. Now the Justice Department is getting involved.

I'd be willing to bet that there have been a thousand Trump lawsuits that have either just vanished, or have been determined to lack merit, in the past six years or so. He's also demanded an equal number of apologies, which have been ignored.
