Likes and dislikes post channel update

I also don't like that Buzzsaw was replaced by Boneyard. Its AC/DC radio for the moment, I hope its basically a name change only when it returns. My wife has XM in her Honda and I found it to be a bizarre mash of Buzzsaw, Hair Nation, and Hard Attack - thus redundant for Sirius - and not in a good way

Buzzsaw was terrible. They had no idea what they were doing. Loverboy and Joan Jett and Pat Benetar had no business being on a metal channel. They never played any new music from the core artists and barely went deep into the libraries of the core artists.

So far I am happy that I have Radio 1 and the Grateful Dead Channel on XM now. I like that Raw Dog is playing the stand up I liked from XM Comedy. I am happy the XM kept the Village and The Groove. I like Classic Rewind. Hair Nation is okay in very small dosages.

I hate that Lithium has replaced Lucy. This to me is the biggest mistake of the combine.

I will miss Fred. 1st Wave is okay, but not as deep. I liked Raw 66 better then Shade 45 and HHN, but like 1st wave they are okay. I will miss the Rhyme and not having Boneyard and Cinemagic until January will suck. I have already heard way too many bumpers on the channels.
 
I find the decades channels now too stuck on the hits, the country channels watered down and populated by annoying DJs, the great shows from XMX now on only two or three times a week and the single artist channels useless. I'll give it a week or two, but it sure looks like the refund I'll get by cancelling XM will get me an HD radio and a car kit. If the service is going to be insipid, why shouldn't I get it for free instead of paying Mel K. for it?

The Bridge Channel has an avatar! :bow:
The Bridge will be coming to XM
Classic Rewind will be coming to XM

My dislikes:

No more Lucy (Lithium is not an equivalant channel IMHO)
No more MovingEZ
No more Chrome/Strobe

Indifferent:
The Blend seems to be Starlight. This may be an improvement or not.

I always thought of Buzzsaw as a classic rock channel.

Metal =/= Classic Rock, IMO.

Everything and some hits thrown in. Lithium is gross. I got sick of the songs they play in the 90's when they were forced down our throats on FM radio. I don't need them again in 2008.

Lucy also played alternative music from the 80s, 90s, up to present day. It was the perfect alternative channel

Buzzsaw was not a metal channel, it was later classic rock, which tended to have a harder edge, so the artists you listed were appropriate. I will agree that they overplayed a lot of groups/songs, but at least they were "hit" songs, not B sides and album stuff from bands I never heard of.

Lithium plays more Grunge. Lucy played more 'modern rock' cuts from the 90s. They look the same in name but they had 2 completely different feels from station ids to different cuts of music he would throw in from time to time.
 
My half-assed first impression of The Loft: The Spectrum, but with more artists I haven't heard of. Yawn.

I'll give it a little more time, but a replacement for Disorder, it isn't.
 
There's nothing that bothers me all that much. I didn't like the name change of Hard Attack to Liquid Metal, but that's about it. I am sorry to see so many XM subs lose channels like Lucy that were unique and part of what they loved about XM. Same thing with fans of Sirius Disorder and Backspin.

Here is the glaring problem with Lithium besides the fact they only play the hits that have been spoon fed to us since the 90s, and I just looked for blatantly obvious bands, I'm sure a few more repeat bands are still in there

I agree buzzsaw was nothing but hair nation with a whole lot of ozzy and some tired Thin Lizzy, with a healthy dose of George Thorogood. Boneyard is much better!

Lucy was a tremendous station that had a lot more variety and that was a huge mistake.

Ist Wave has sounded a little deeper so far.

My favorite has been the XM decade channels. Now we get all the hits and not just rock hits.
