I am opposed to the killing of bears – especially when the bear is in a tree and has no chance to get away. Hunters sometimes will kill a bear and have it made into a bearskin rug. Turnabout is fair play. Bears should start killing hunters and making "man-skin" rugs out of them.

I’ve got the Westminster Dog Show on the TV. Here are the 7 groups.

Hound
Toy
Herding
Sporting
Working
Terrier
Non-Sporting

Was “non-sporting” really the best name they could come up with for that category??

It sounds better than "other". Technically, some of the toys and terriers are non-sporting too. You would think they could do better.

I heard this was won by a Giant Schnauzer. It came from the Working class. I always thought Schnauzers were Terriers or had Terriers in the mix but maybe that is only the small ones.

According to Google, giant and standard Schnauzers are in the working group. Miniature schnauzers are in the terrier group. Which is pretty effed-up.

The more you know. DRC teaches me something again. Thanks Scotch. Good job googling something that I would never think to Google.

My aunt and uncle had too mini schnauzers when I was a kid and I had a Cairn terrier...the dog from The wizard of Oz.... But mine was tan.... Anyway, I thought they were two completely separate categories. A Schnauzer was its own thing and a terrier was a bunch of things but not mini schnauzers.

I just went to the bathroom and on my way there I noticed there was one of those tiny little almost translucent geckos by my Alexa that I keep in the hallway. The thing was maybe an inch long at the most.

That got me wondering, what pests do you get in your home that are local to your area?

I imagine roaches, ants, stuff like that is everywhere in the country. Same with mice and rats but you never actually see them in your house. We never had those geckos in Philly. We had lightning bugs in Philly and sometimes they would get in the house and they were like the geckos. Super cool. When I see a gecko I either try to gently put it back outside or I ignore it because I don't care that it's in the house since I don't find it gross.

If I see a roach I automatically kill it. And God forbid a mouse or a rat were to show up in this house. I would burn down this entire public storage property.

And with those geckos I've seen Athena hunt them down and 100% consume them. Which is weird because I've seen her hunt a roach before and we have those fucking palmetto bugs here that are bigger roaches. They're really gross. She'll hunt it down and kill it, but then she won't eat it the same way she does with the geckos. So if a gecko makes the decision to come into my house, it's taking a risk.

My favorite thing about winter may be the overall lack of bugs.

We probably have similar stuff that you have in Florida. I like geckos, they are in the pest control business.

Do you sometimes see those weird silverfish in the attic or stuff? They’re strange

I totally know what you're talking about when you ask that so they must be here and I must have seen them before. But no I don't get them here in my current place.

We have deer, turkey, fox, coyote, bobcats, fisher cats, groundhogs, raccoons, possum, porcupine, and snapping turtles, aside from the regular insects and vermin. Nothing crazy.

What's the worst injury you guys have ever had that was caused by an animal?

It could be a bite or like you trip over your dog or I don't know a fucking mosquito bite that got infected.

Thought that would be an interesting topic.

I don't have anything serious at all.

The most serious injurys I've ever had I've posted here in great detail. I imagine if you go back like 5-10 years I'll have a million posts detailing them.

When Athena was younger we would play and she would beat the shit out of me. My hands would constantly be scratched and bloody and that's not an exaggeration. I would not go through a week without having multiple scratches that drew blood on my hands.

But it was fun like play time. Now she's old and she doesn't do that shit anymore.

Can't think of anything major. Biggest incident I can recall was picking up my wife's cat when he wasn't expecting it so his legs, and claws, shot straight out. One claw ripped the center of my nose wide open. I still have a vertical line running down the center of my nose from it.

Nothing major here either. Did bump into a jellyfish once at the beach. Leg area turned red and kind of burned for a few hours. Not too bad.
