SiriusXM Issues 2025 Q1 Financial Report

It kinda pains me to say this as a former DJ, but I'd be fine with that. I can't think of 1 DJ they have that I really get much from. If I need to know the info on a song I don't recognize, I can always look at the screen in my car.I can see a day where Sirius shoots down the satellites and fires all the DJs and just becomes like Spotify and their ilk.
I'm old enough to remember when radio was still pretty good, before Clear Channel bought everything. I had a few favorite DJs on local radio, once the last one retired I haven't touched any stations in the Denver area since. Music is on my phone or smart speaker, I have the mlb app for baseball, and Sirius streaming for every other sport, Alerts for breaking news or weather comes through on my phone notifications. Non-Sirius radio has been dead to me for about a decade now. Not sure if Sirius will suffer the same fate after awhile, right now I'd say no, but who knows. If I find myself using more of the xtra channels I'll consider it since all that is available in different fashions on Apple Music. It kinda pains me to say this as a former DJ, but I'd be fine with that. But KBCO has only been around since 1977. That was one of the stations I regularly listened to before Clear Channel took them over. You're not telling me anything I don't already know. Especially since I've been here since 1978.And you said you no longer listen to Denver radio stations. It's okay. I seldom listen to any Los Angeles-area music stations.
My punch out feature on WPNH was canceled because the station switched from active rock to classic rock (because Westwood One, the service that pushes the music to them, canceled the format). Just like TV catering to old people who can't imagine getting their entertainment any other way than the cable guide (my father-in-law, my dad), radio is following their original audience from the 70s to the grave. And then they'll be gone too.Radio as a whole is dying
Exactly. What kept me listening to radio in the 00s was good Djs with interesting talk and interesting music, especially about things happening in my neck of the woods. Clear Channel turned it into copy/paste one-signal-fits-all uninspired, uninteresting garbage.I'm old enough to remember when radio was still pretty good, before Clear Channel bought everything.

by the 00s radio in the US was dead. Canadian radio has avoided the CC type cookie cutter stuff so far.My punch out feature on WPNH was canceled because the station switched from active rock to classic rock (because Westwood One, the service that pushes the music to them, canceled the format). Record companies did the same thing. The 90s alt rock sound is huge, copy/paste it! Don't find the next big thing, copy the old big thing, until it's dead, because I'm retiring soon and I want this money to keep flooding in, who cares about the future of music.
