On this first commercial day of summer, I biked the full city loop, for the first time, with the new signs that direct you through the entire route. The signs were great, especially since some of the route is on the streets. I did not realize I had not ridden on many of the city trails before.
My listening choice during the ride was the Summer Mix: SPF 50 Countdown. The 50 greatest summer songs of all time.
The route is supposed to be 23 miles but my odometer recorded 28 miles. The question was whether I would finish the route before my mix ended.
But I finished the route at song #8 "Vacation" by the Go Go's. The Countdown had a little bit of everything: "Summer Wind" Frank Sinatra, "School's Out" Alice Cooper and halfway through the route and the countdown, in the most rural part of the route, they had a 60's song that put a smile on my face: I think it was
"See You In September". I listened to the rest of the countdown on my porch. #4 "Here Comes The Sun" #3 "Summer of 69" #2 "Boys of Summer" and #1 "Surfin USA" And I still had two bars left on my battery. Next time I ride the route, I will listen to my favorite channel.

The Happenings' See You In September peaked at #3 on the August 27 1966 Hot 100 behind the Lovin' Spoonful's Summer In The City and Bobby Hebb's Sunny. The original version by the Tempos, a Pittsburgh quintet, reached #23 on the September 7 1959 Hot 100 and was their only chart hit. Here are both versions:

I have now completed the first leg of my Coffeehouse Bike Tour (with Coffeehouse Classics as my listening choice)

I did the Roots Coffeehouse Tour. Basically, it was almost the same city loop route I did on Memorial Day (28 miles) with a stop at the
Roots Coffeehouse. I had a sourdough chocolate chip cookie and water. I was almost served by a male barista. But I told him I needed to use the restroom first. When I came back out, a female was at the counter. So my server count is female 1 male 0.

I did notice my back tire is starting to get worn. So I may need to go in for a tune up when I reach 2000 miles. I'm at 1752.

For the week of May 23, Boston rises from #7 to #5 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart, #42 to #36 on the Country Airplay chart and #27 to #20 on the Hot 100. The Hot Country Songs chart is based on streaming, sales and airplay. If country music fans love the song so much, why is it not getting much airplay on country stations?
I wanted to go back to this Stella Lefty conversation. Last summer, there was another gal who had a song named after a big city Ella Jane "Seattle". Also about young female/male relations. She said her story (she got dumped) was an inspiration for writing the song. I said she got the better of it being here on my favorite channel with me. But I have not heard any more from her. I know it is early in the summer season, but I hope that she, just like this Stella Lefty, does not become a one summer wonder

Ella Jane has released two singles since Seattle. They are 10-Blade (released October 17) and When I Was Beautiful (released December 12). One line of 10-Blade is morbid. The video for When I Was Beautiful is in black and white, just the way the human eye normally sees things.

Since ella jane's song was titled after a northwest city and Stella Lefty's song was titled after a northeast city, maybe next summer we will have a new gal that will make a song titled after a southeast city like Miami or Jacksonville or even Atlanta. Then the following summer another gal will have a song titled after a southwest city like Phoenix, or Sacramento.

I did the Double Domer today (I cannot think of better name). Viewing the capital at Gov Nelson St Park Mid-morning and the Capitol View Farmers Market at 4pm. I took my binoculars to Gov Nelson to view; I also tried to concentrate on looking for other sites: the UW Student Union along the Lake and Camp Randall.
At Farmers Market, I returned our scrap box we were given last Wednesday for eggshells, banana peels, raw fruits/veggies and such. The police brought two Clydesdale horses; they are really big. And I finally got my Lemon Olive Oil after a month. According to the Saturday Farmers Market, the vendor was waiting for the supplier to import the olive oil. I did not ask today what was going on, Just happy they were finally there. It will be great with my baked eggs. I also started Week 1 today with my share coop for farm fresh eggs delivered to me at the YMCA. This will be the 2nd summer I participate. I will receive a dozen eggs every other Wednesday. I only listened to two songs from the music group. Did not even know the name of the group. Otherwise, I was listening to Coffeehouse Classics at both places. Except driving to and from Governor Nelson. I listened to Hits 1 Mack and Jen. Another nice day!!

This Coffeehouse Classic: I always thought this was Paul McCartney singing but was wrong.

When The White Stripes were inducted into the RRHOF last year, a bunch of artists covered their songs. Here's Olivia Rodrigo and Feist doing that song

And if you hear the song on the radio, it's probably from Jack Johnson, who covered it for the Curious George soundtrack
