While I'm holding out hope that Irma will continue west I decided to look for batteries again tonight. Yesterday after I posted about my Amazon being delayed I went out and got AAA's. They were everywhere and easy to find. However, no one had D batteries. I biked around to 6 different places and came up empty. At one store I ran into another guy looking for D's and he had the same Amazon delay story as me. Anyway, when I got to CVS tonight there was a guy stocking a display with them so I picked up 3, 4 packs. I have one of those Coleman lanterns that takes 6 D batteries. Now I can replace them twice. I have enough AAA's to re-up each of my 4 flashlights 3 times. Tomorrow I will haul all this stuff over to Mr. Koopman's place.

But it seems quite wishy washy about it. First it is direct hit, then east, then direct hit again, now a bit west. It would not surprise me if this thing hit Mississippi instead.

Palm Beach County: Mandatory evacuations for Zone A and B, voluntary for Zone C

This applies to Boca but only the area right on the ocean which is about 5 miles from me. (Not 6 like I said yesterday. I looked it up and it's 4.8 miles to the beach from here.) There is a voluntary evacuation for a low lying area about a mile from me but nothing for my exact location. Shelter in place, here I come!

It's down to a 3 right now and still tracking to the west along the coast. They say once it clears Cuba it will pick up some more steam before hitting Florida or brushing Florida.

Like 3 mins after I posted that the internet and TV went out. I'm at my dad's now. His Comcast is down too but the weak community wifi is working so it's better than nothing. I'm now filling up everything that can hold water. I'd rather the building collapse on me than live in a home where a big fatso and elderly man are taking shits that can't be flushed.

Now the building wifi is getting spotty. We'll see how long it lasts.

ok i left my house and got here and started filling up containers.

thats just about every container he has that is worth filling. i think it's at least 20 or more flushes. now it's just time to hunker down. along with this i filled a few gallon containers with water and put them in the freezer. that way they will be big chunks of ice by tomorrow and good for both drinking and keeping the freezer cold when the power goes out.

tomorrow should be fun!

I expanded upon last year's water supply. This should be enough to keep the bathroom functioning properly for at least a few days.

Hurricane Jose looks to be doing a loop in the middle of the Atlantic. It looses some snuff as it heads north and will likely gain as it heads back south. Who knows where it will end up.

I stopped watching CNN. It is somehow wrong to watch reporters almost peeing themselves with excitement at what will likely be a huge disaster.

I find it hard to not watch.. These storm events must bring heavy TV ratings for The Weather Channel and CNN.

Brevard County Communications Director Don Walker said, some people left one of the county's 21 designated hurricane shelters, and asked if they could return, if necessary. The answer is yes, but, ideally, they would continue to stay at the shelter until the storm passes.
