If Toledo gets a direct hit from a hurricane, you have that crazy lady to thank for it
So I'm a little conflicted. I'd LOVE, LOVE, LOVE for the hurricane to completely obliterate Mar-a-F'in-Lago, preferably while shithead is there in mid-golf-swing, impaling a 9-iron through his fat gut. But I saw on a map that Boca is very close to there, so first, I'd want Koop to run for the hills.
That's something I have been thinking about. Hopefully this is a repeat of last year's dud, hurricane Matthew but if it stays on the track it's on now that won't be the case. I am tied to whatever my father will do. I plan to go to his place the day before it hits and ride it out with him. He has a meeting in his community tomorrow where they will discuss their plan. Evacuating an entire retirement community is no easy task. Between the 2 sites (south and north) on the one main campus there are something like 600 elderly people, not to mention all those in the assisted living and nursing home facilities. He is on the second floor of what I think is a pretty solid building so I doubt it would blow over in the storm. They have those hurricane windows, not shutters but reinforced windows, so that's better than nothing. A few years ago, around 09 I think, they rebuilt the auditorium in his complex to be a hurricane haven. It's a giant windowless space that is all concrete and cinder block. If it gets real bad they would probably have everyone gather there. At that same time in 09 they also installed generators in all the buildings to keep the elevators and hallway lights on. They have never really been battle tested but it's nice to know they have them. I know my father will not want to evacuate. I think the most likely scenario is that he will stay in his condo. He is about 6 miles from the beach so his home is not normally in the evacuation area. If the county and governor issue evacuation orders for his part of Boca I will try to convince him to go. It's a toss up as to whether he would heed my advice. If he is willing, then we go. If he's not then I stay put with him.

Ha! Yesterday when I was doing community service (which is basically me doing a woman's housework/gardening) we went to this exact place to fill her 4 propane tanks.

AARGH! Looks like I'll be going on a AAA battery scavenger hunt today now that my Amazon purchase is delayed. I ordered the fan and these batteries at the same time and the fan is still expected to arrive today. I guess everyone ordered batteries on Tuesday like me. Hopefully I'll be able to find some at the Walgreens and CVS that are right by my house.

FPL is the power company for about half of FL, including me. They serve 10 million people and their boss is on TV right now saying he expects 9 million people will lose power. "Typically 5 to 6 days." That's a quote I don't like one bit.
It's moving west a bit. I'm now getting a bit of hope it will be a repeat of last year's much hyped storm that wound up doing almost zero damage around me. It would be very, very nice to not lose power.
