Hurricane Season

It's looking like a soggy couple days here at the new koopman abode. Hurricane season started 3 days ago and my area is already under a tropical storm warning and flood watch.

This is the best type of storm tho. A bunch of rain but no serious wind. It will be fun to watch from both home and the office.

I can finally say most of my Hurricane Ida property damage has been repaired. Carpenters worked this week on fence repair, porch repair, and fixing a few wooden beams.

Just in time for the next round of storms - I know IRBS is thinking it. Haha.

A person with good carpenter skills could make a great living here now. Some carpenters are still telling people they're booked for the next 12 to 18 months. Roof installation people also.

Congrats Aaron!
I'm glad that you're pretty well back on track.

Contractors are swamped everywhere right now. It's got to be insane down there.
We're seeing a lot of project that don't get any bids by contractors or very few bids, and the prices are through the roof.
We're also seeing where there are a lot of products that are on back order for a year or more.

If it makes you feel any better, I am praying the next round misses you and just slams Florida. They say tornadoes love trailer parks, maybe hurricanes love storage locker facilities.

Today is the anniversary of the two times I thought we might have lost all our worldly possessions in a storm.
1 year - Ida, 17 years Katrina.
Especially Ida... shit 150 mph winds at landfall, extremely slow moving storm with the eyewall pounding my town for hours.
As bad as the damage was around town, I'm shocked it wasn't worse, I was kind of expecting the town to be completely leveled.

After something like last year I probably would have moved. I’m considering it with the fire danger out here (among other things).

Looking at the 5 day outlook, Fiona will turn north and buzz Bermuda and Newfoundland. But there is an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms below it which if you read the description is going to head west into the Caribbean Sea. My guess is that this will be the boost it needs to form into a storm. And storms which take this track usually hit Texas or LA. Of course every storm is different and it may just break up. And I am not a meteorologist (strange word -- looks like they should be studying meteors not weather) nor do I play one on TV.

This is going to miss us and hit Nova Scotia. Wild.

Shows what I know. This one will hit Florida. But I was right in it becoming a storm (hurricane specifically).
