Howard to Subscribers: "F You"

Almost makes me want to start a complaint campaign to the FCC, but that just seems so douchey, like 0&0 pests trying to scuttle the merger...

How long would Howard listen to someone talking about a Bop Lop O Wop Jop O Bop?

Bop Lop O Wop Jop O Bop? That is worse than calling breasts "creamers".

If I were Bubba, I'd be pissed about that comment. He even said he was excited to see Bubba get in trouble with his terrestrial employers. So that what can happen? So Bubba can get fired and not have any other option than to take SiriXM's bottom-barrel offer? The one that he can't afford to pay his people with?

If I was Bubba, I would know where my bread is buttered. He has a chance to make a fortune if he can just play his cards right for a couple of years and wait to fill Howard's shoes. With Cox he is only an F-bomb or racial joke away from going back into the depths of obscurity.

Howard gets a lot of the complaints directed towards him, since he's a vocal company man and accessible to callers. If Mel K. or some other Sirius brass had a regular show and took calls, I think they'd be getting the heat that now gets onto 100 or 101, plus heat from listeners to other channels (or channels that aren't around anymore).

I understand why Howard and Bubba stick to the party line, but I got to believe that they are both bothered by what happened, and also how they were told by management to announce it.

Howard thus far has had to deal with a handful of callers on the air, I would like to think that he should be able to handle that much heat. I would also like to believe that Mel Karmizan and other Sirius top brass are hearing the outrage from subscribers. What they're not doing is telling the subscribers to "Fuck off and cancel", I'm pretty sure about that.

Maybe Howard and Bubba are bothered by it, maybe they have to stick to a company line? I don't care anymore. I don't think of Howard as an honest voice in radio or as some supreme visionary of the medium. He was great, that much I know. But honest? Only as much as he needs to be. A visionary? Nah...a revisionary is more fitting.

They shouldn't be using the bumpers of "No More Bullshit" and they shouldn't be selling Howard's channels as "the best in uncensored radio"...neither apply anymore.

Again, what would lead him to believe that he is Howard's heir? The fact that SiriXM wasn't willing to pay him his quote? The fact that SiriXM told him to take their cut-rate or go screw? The fact that they are paying O&A, Russo, and apparently Bodi Miller (!) more than him? IF SiriXM is around in two years (and that's a huge "if"), I think they're making it loud and clear that Bubba will not be one of their priorities.

Agreed 100%

I'm guessing that he did get pissed at that comment. He's talked about how when they first signed the FM deal a Sirius Exec told him he wouldn't last a month there because he'd screw it up. He's told that story a few times and was pissed each time he told it.

strange, howard is on the WUS today. along with Brent as well. also asking him why he tells listeners to F off.

damn, howard is a dick.

Really, i took Howards explanation on the WUS seriously.................. He doesn't beleive him telling ppl to subscribe or not to subscribe has anything to do with it........ and I actually beleive him, ppl come for the content, not because of anything else, if ppl didn't like it they wouldn't listen and would cancel.......

I agree with you, but if this forum has taught me anything, then this statement:

if ppl didn't like it they wouldn't listen and would cancel

needs a little editing . . .

if sane ppl didn't like it they wouldn't listen and would cancel

There, I fixed it.

even though howard was trying to be funny with the guy that called in with 3 subs, telling that guy to f*ck himself wasn't cool, cuz the guy was actually trying to ask a serious question.

but it was cool to hear howard on WUS today. that was quite unexpected.

I really have no problem with the show considering thet shit thats on regular radio, but it did bother me when Howard told his fans to Fuck off. I've spent a lot of money on Sirius. I've bought radios, life time subscriptions and regular subsriptions. Not to mention all the kits you have to buy seperate because they won't add them in the radio package. I've also bought a lot of stock in the company. I came over for Howard. I spent money because of him. I believe in his show and I believed in Sirius. To tell people to fuck off is wrong. I'm ok with the Bubba show being what it is. I'm just pissed at the way Sirius did it. If you guys remember Howard used to rag on regular radio shows being broadcast on Sirius. Now he is ok with it???? I don't get it. I will take what I can get with Bubbas show, but Sirius fucked up and its to bad Howard can't admit that.

this is what I"m getting at. he refuses to admit that asking hard core bubba fans to pay for something that is free for everything is kind of asking a lot in this economy.

I haven't stopped laughing at all the callers/e-mailers/posters since Howard's "FU listeners" statement.

I'll give you another frequent Howard/Artie quote "It's a comedy show".

You guys don't have a sense of humor.

Too bad the first caller on TWUS wasn't still on the phone when Howard decided to drop in, he was on point until he got derailed with the iron maiden stuff.

to pay for something that is free

Eveyone keeps saying this, but if you don't sit at a desk from 6AM to 10AM, or work somewhere that lets you stream, or live in one of his local markets, is it really that bad? I can still hear some Bubba, which for me is better than no Bubba, in my car on the way home.

Would I rather it was uncensored? Yes. But it's still funny to many of us Bubba fans. Considering the alternatives, I'll take it. But I would suggest they start scaling back the references to Uncensored or whatever, at least on the 101 bumpers and promos.

And the "tapes team" have a new job; editing out all the references to the times where Howard and Tim referred to terrestrial radio as being "boring old fashioned radio" and the time when Mel came on Howard's show describing why he felt that the talent on satellite radio should be exclusive content, not content rented from terrestrial radio.

Jesus christ, people are so over sensitive. I'm gonna go cry in my pillow because Howard told some people to fuck off on the phone. boo frikkin' hoo.
