The original Robin was Dick Grayson, who eventually became Nightwing. Jason Todd became the new Robin in 1983. Six years later, Tim Drake became Robin. Stephanie Brown, formerly Spoiler, was Robin from 2004 to 2006. Since then, Damian Wayne, son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, has been Robin. DC Comics has decided that one of those Robins is bisexual.

It's not really a surprise that Robin is gay. Watching the TV show it was pretty obvious.

I saw a piece about this on the news. Keep in mind that the bill hasn't become law yet; there's a senate measure first. I agree that if this becomes law, it will further alienate gay youth. However, in the long run, all of these "hail mary" measures to erase a changing America will eventually be struck down. Each day, the country is getting more diverse, and less religious. Someday, we'll look back at these days as the last ditch efforts of the old guard.

I'm trying to figure out if the people who want this are calling it "Don't Say Gay", or is it something the people against it came up with? Because I didn't see anything in the story I read that says "you can't say 'gay' in a school".

It's referred to as "the so-called Don't Say Gay bill". Just like how the Affordable Care Act was "Obamacare". The bill would prevent teachers in certain grades from discussing things like a kid having 2 dads or 2 moms, or a boy having a boyfriend, or a girl who feels like a boy. So it's not a literal ban on using the word "gay".

And as far as I can tell the conveniently left out defining what those certain ages and grades are. It allows the parents to sue the school board if somebody mentions it to the kid below that magic age.

I had my boys in Cub Scouts briefly about eight or nine years ago, and the pack went to Scout Sunday at the church that sponsored them. The minister's sermon was a tirade against homosexuality. That was one of our last Cub Scout activities. Not only did I not want my first-graders hearing about homosexuality--I didn't want them hearing about ANY sexuality at age 7!

I'm an Eagle Scout and used to work for the Boy Scouts. My oldest son is also gay. The organization has come a long way in a short period of time. You can be a gay girl and be a Boy Scout (technically, a member of "Scouts BSA"). I think they need to remove the religious belief requirement too and just take all comers. I had a lot of friends in Scouts who didn't believe in God, and no one gave a shit.

While I'm not for this bill, the opposition using fearmongering pisses me off.

I saw this originally on a Twitter thread that called it the "Don't Say Gay" bill and the response area underneath was loaded with people "HOW DARE FLORIDA TELL US WE CAN'T SAY THE WORD GAY? WELL, GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY GAY!" That's not the point. It's misleading and intentionally causes more hate.

It's like when (not to get too political but) Republicans tried to say Biden didn't want Americans to have turkey for Thanksgiving or something like that. I forget the specifics. There are too many weak-minded sheep in this country who see a headline or bill name and go off spreading misinformation. And there are some who want to use and manipulate those people to spread more hate.

TLDR; people suck

You only have to look at the "critical race theory" debacle to see that people just pick their "camps" and don't care about facts. CRT is a subject taught in law schools, not public grade schools. Yet both opponents and proponents discuss it as if it was. It's been banned from being taught in many public schools, even though it was never part of the curriculum.

I think TikTok has burned-out our brains.

I just came across this, even though the story came out late last year. I'm proud being gay, I enjoy the gay flag and support all types. To me, it's kind of getting overkill and has way to many colors and meaning. They added intersex and every now and then. They keep adding new types of gay categories, even I don't know what they are sometimes. Maybe I'm old fashioned but, I prefer the original 6 colors and stripes.

The Progress Pride Flag Is Getting an Intersex-Inclusive Makeover

Kinda like π, which I know 16 digits of and no more, my brain can't handle any more letters after LGBTQ. I think there's an I and an A somewhere after, and + symbol, and more added to those, but I just can't keep track of all that. I'd rather try to memorize more digits of π than try to learn more letters. But I'm not doing either because...

If this bill passes the Florida Senate and is signed by Governor Ron DeSantis, when The Flintstones is shown on television on Florida, the theme song will end with "We'll have a [CENSORED} old time."
