It's amazing how a person can rip into a bloody, chewy, gamey steak without a 2nd thought; but a completely flavorless, odorless, refined and manicured little square of tuna sends people running.There is no way I could bring myself to eat raw fish.
Where did I say I liked steak tartar or raw beef or chicken or pork? I like my steak medium. If you cooked sushi medium I would probably try it.It's amazing how a person can rip into a bloody, chewy, gamey steak without a 2nd thought; but a completely flavorless, odorless, refined and manicured little square of tuna sends people running.
I have an understanding for people who won't try raw oysters or clams, or eat fishy fish. And some people are put-off by shellfish. But sushi is about as mild and devoid of any character as the rice it's wrapped in. This is just my observation; ultimately, it doesn't affect me.
I never said raw. But eating a medium-cooked steak, or chicken on the bone, or pork, veal, or lamb, or even ground beef is really a disgusting, barbaric thing (and I do all those things). Everything about it makes it clear you're tearing into an animal. To me, sushi is the opposite of that. That's all I'm saying. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, just making an observation.Where did I say I liked steak tartar or raw beef or chicken or pork?
Prolly not, but I never really worry about that.- all that rice isn't really that good for you;
True, but I make a meal of it anyway.- it's expensive to get a meal of just sushi;
Not that night, sir. Not that night.- you tend to start looking for something more to eat after an hour.
I'm like a kid in a candy store. If the places i go to didn't have so many great rolls, it would be easier to have it as an app and move on to a dinner.o now, we'll have it as an appetizer. But I'm sure that bowl you had was a good time!
Mild yes, but full of good flavor and character IMO.But sushi is about as mild and devoid of any character as the rice it's wrapped in.
Now I'm hungry again.If an alien beamed down to earth, which one of these would he most likely judge as more crude?

Wicked good steak? So you'll be in New England then...We're going out for a wicked good Steak Saturday night.
My wife would occasionally order red beans and rice from Popeyes. I have never nor would I ever partake in the dish. I am not a beans person.Even as a kid, I knew that jambalaya and gumbo and etoufee were regional dishes, and we’re eating these things weekly but the rest of America is not.
I guess I never saw Red Beans and Rice the same way, but I guess it’s more a local favorite also.
Do you guys never partake in some good red beans and rice? With Andouille sausage of course.

Never had any of 'em. And like IRBS, I'm not a bean guy (unless it's Campbell's pork & beans)jambalaya and gumbo and etoufee
They have seafood jambalaya here, such as the place we just went to, which does it with haddock, mussels, shrimp, chicken, and sausage. I used to order jambalaya (however they made it) at just about any place I went to for a while, especially at brewpubs. But in recent years, I've cut back on that kind of stuff, especially when eating late. I know of gumbo, probably had it here and there. I'm not familiar with an etoufee, so I'm not sure about that.Even as a kid, I knew that jambalaya and gumbo and etoufee were regional dishes, and we’re eating these things weekly but the rest of America is not.

It surprises me how 'south' NH can be at times, especially the further north you go. You'd swear you were in Alabama if it weren't for the 2 feet of snow.A neighbor in NH was making giant pans of it at a yard party, with a live bluegrass band playing.
