I'll just double-up on the Lipitor on those days.

Finding a decent place that's open after 10PM down here in North Carolina is murder! ! ! ! !
I don't know how these people survive.

Go to Chapel Hill. Stuff is open late for UNC students. The rest of the state is basically one giant blue law (with exceptions).

As Jesse Helms said, "Them damned liberals in Chapel Hill..."

I'll look for it. Thanx.

Never mind. It's 2-1/2 hours east of here. Thanx anyway.

Right there.

About 30 minutes north of Charlotte, and 2 1/2 hours west of Chapel Hill.
Exactly in the middle of "We Close at Nine Ville." I never thought I'd say that I live in the "Big City".......but.....

Pour yourself a big glass of buttermilk, watch an episode of "Hee-Haw" and go to bed. You gotta get up early in the morning because that shit won't kick itself.

Sounds like Mooresville or Statesville. Lucky SOB right in the middle of NASCAR country.

No time to go to the track and yell "Turn left! Turn Left!!!" at my favorite blur. I fly in on Sunday nights, and fly out on Friday evenings. It sounds like it would be fun to do sometime though.

This was when "Green" had first came out, it was a nice show, we had fun shouting out "Driver 8" from the nosebleed section of the coliseum.

I didn't know you were an REM fan. My brother!

I was actually terrified when I first listened to Green. I remember lying on my bed in the basement, playing the cassette tape. Having grown up on a steady diet of K-92 (can you get that in Rural Retreat? It's teeny-bopper Top 40), I had never listened to any "alternative" music (although it was called "progressive" back then). I didn't know what kind of subversive messages I would be bombarded with.

Semipenguin is a big fan too.

Yea man, I got into them right around that time, went and got the whole discography after that, I really got into Alternative when I started dating my future wife.

Her and her sister turned me on to REM, The Connells, Dreams So Real, XTC, The Smithereens, Timbuk 3, The Cure, The BoDeans, and even some Steve Earle.

I listened to K-92 when I was a teenager, until WROV came in around the late 80's there was no rock station in my area.

K-92 was at one time the most popular station in America, based on percentage of total listening audience. I remember when one of their DJs, David Lee Michaels (who is now a photographer in Roanoke) was put in jail for drugs or something and it was like they'd just imprisoned Nelson Mandela. Free David Lee! The man is keeping us down!

K-92 sucks. It's all hip-hop crap now, like all Top 40. ROV is much better. Plus, they have John Boy & Billy.

The Connells are great. I saw the Smithereens at JMU and got to interview them for the campus radio station. BoDeans and Steve Earle are good...I'm going to see Steve's son Justin Townes Earle in Blacksburg tonight.
