There definitely is a difference. Up here Coke in cans is much different/better than Pepsi in cans. Coke from a Canadian fountain is less different but still better than Pepsi in a fountain. American soft drinks are different. They have different sugars but the fountain versions are pretty close (but coke still better). Cans further apart with again coke being better. My preference:

1. Canadian Coke from a can
2. Canadian Coke from a fountain.
3. US Coke from a fountain
4. US Pepsi from a fountain
5. Canadian Pepsi from a fountain
6. US Coke from a can
7. Canadian Pepsi from a can
8. US Pepsi from a can

When I travel to the states I bring a case or 2 of Canadian cokes with me. I also import Canadian Ketchup for my brother-in-law. Again the sugars.

Wow, you're like a wine snob, except for cola. I wasn't really aware that adults other than Artie Lange and Donald Trump drank so much cola. I start my day with coffee, and then transition to cranberry/water/ice for the rest of the day. I may have a beer at some point (or not), but my routine is to have a glass of wine with dinner, and a small glass of scotch at night.

We keep cans of soda in the fridge, but that's just for driving in the car. Mrs. Scotch does about the same as me, but it's a certain fruit punch instead of cranberry. She goes to Target and gets 4 bottles of Simply Fruit Punch at a time, and 2 bottles of Simply Cranberry. If she runs out, stay away.

I don't drink coffee. I get my caffeine from Coca-Cola.
 
I would like to:

Start with a small glass of fruit juice (cranberry, orange, apple, sweetened grapefruit)
Drink water (12 oz)
Have a stevia cola (12 oz)
Or on a hot day do sweet iced-tea or real lemonade (or a mix of both - YUM!)
Have chocolate almond milk after dinner

Currently I:

Drink water (12-20 oz)
Have a stevia cola (12 oz)
More water...

I'm not a fan of Subway. But I think them not hiring a kiddie-diddler as a spokesman has helped their business too.
 
I like Quiznos' sandwiches much more than I like Subway's. One of their slogans is "Mmmm, toasty!" They toast their sandwiches and they offer several different kinds of bread including ciabatta and rosemary parmesan. They also have soups, salads and pizza. The first Quiznos opened in 1981 in Denver. At one time there were more than 5,000 Quiznos worldwide but now there are fewer than 400. IRBS will be glad to know there are several in Canada, eh?

I thought that Quizno’s was great. I’d still go there if there was one around here.
I’ll go to Jimmy John’s mostly, and then Penn Station.
 
I hardy don't care for Subway anymore. Jimmy John's isn't the same as it use to be and I don't think there anymore Quizno's in Phoenix.

I like D'angelos, mostly for their steak and rice bowls. If I want a salad with meat or tuna on it though, I go to Subway. If I want a steak sub, I like Subway's steak on flatbread. Sub rolls (aka hoagies, grinders, see other thread) have too much bread, the flatbread is thin and chewy and delish.

The downside to freshly sliced deli meat​

It’s worth noting that from an employee standpoint, the freshly sliced deli meat is going to require more work per sandwich. If you’ve ever asked a deli worker at the grocery store for a half pound of roast beef, you’ve seen them lug a giant hunk of it over to the slicer and begin work on your order. This obviously takes a little bit of time, so your sandwiches might require a longer wait.

Then there’s the sanitation part: While it’s crucial to keep any food prep area as clean as possible, it’s arguably even more important when using a deli slicer. Deli meat is prone to listeria contamination, and since there’s constantly meat touching the surface of the slicer, one tainted item carries the potential to spread listeria to countless other orders.

I’ve used deli slicers for kitchen prep work before, and cleaning those things is very difficult. There are many moving parts to a slicer that all come into contact with the meat, and cleaning the blade thoroughly isn’t always easy, because some small gaps between the blade and the body of the device are almost impossible to reach with a towel. I don’t want to say food poisoning is inevitable, because it’s entirely preventable, but with this switch, Subway is certainly introducing a new kind of food safety risk.

Speaking of risk, employees will have to be trained on this new and dangerous piece of equipment. A document from OSHA, which is not for the faint of heart, explains that deli slicers are hazardous not only when being used, but also when being cleaned. Protective gear such as tough gloves are necessary to go anywhere near it, and Subway will have to provide those precautions to employees at all times. Switching from pre-sliced meat might save Subway money, but at the same time, the company is signing on to increased liability.

At 21, I nicked one of my fingers with that spinning circular blade. Scary.

At 23, I worked a convenience store that had a deli area. There were metal chain-link gloves available. Glad I wore them because I zinged a glove a couple times.
