The deeper playlist is exactly why I liked it. It also proves my point that these hits and decades channels can have much larger playlist and still be hits based and familiar to most. However, Sirius just can't seem to figure this out! This is why many of the stations have small playlist that grow stale.

Exactly. One does not have to consider #57 peaking hits when there are plenty of top 10 and even #1 songs not played.

However, there should be enough channels to play those that are #57 on the hits list too. There is a lot of music that was great and just because it didn't fall into the top 10 doesn't mean it isn't worthy of playing or listening too. I think of groups like Pink Floyd that never had but a couple of top 10 hits, but most of their music is just fantastic. What you suggest is that we should never hear any of that music and that is just bunk!

I remember when it was added to the sats so many people said oh its just a JACK FM station and it sucks. Seems the channel found a pretty good following, I know I liked it!

Just like with any radio show or music service, if something is taken away, people bitch. If something is added, people bitch.

You can't make everyone happy all the time, but a Super Shuffle online wouldn't be bad.

It was listed under the group of channels considered "Pop" so I think that was done purposefully. But having a channel that cherry picked songs from all Sirius channels, creating a one-channel Walk The Dog, would seem harmless to add.

Exactly.

Throw in the country, jazz, classical, and everything else. REALLY shuffle it.

This was one of my FAVORITE Sirius Channels (as was the Vacation channel) and now both are gone.

I agree, I liked to listen to Super Shuffle reminded me of the days of one radio station playing all kinds of music, plus it is a great station for trips since no one would have to listen to a channel they didn't want to listen to. It played pop, country and rock.

I really miss Vacation. I loved that station.

It should be played -- on non hit based stations. And certainly general charts are less important for genre specific stations like Classic Rewind for example where only rock songs are considered. But for the decades channels, they shouldn't be played. I should have been more specific in my previous post.

See the difference between you and I is you see decades channels as being only hits based, I do not. I don't think they should be as limited as they are and they were not on XM. To me a hits based channel are Sirius Hits One, 20 on 20, The Pulse, The Blend, Pop2K, those are hits based channels. Decades, should be wide open to all the music in a given decade and not be limited to the top 10 or 20 hits.

Just to clarify, I do not consider the current level of the decades playlist as ideal. They do not play all the top 20 or even all the top 10 or even all the top 1 hits of the decades. I think they should give all the hits at least some play.

Before the merger I was not happy with either of the Sirius or XM decades channels. I always felt XMs was too deep and Sirius' too shallow. I was hoping with the merger to get something 1/2 way in between. It is somewhere in between but not halfway (IMO).

But I can see that we do not share the same opinion. I just wanted to clarify mine.

Glad you agree that the decades channels have shallow playlist and need to be improved. Not only all the hits, but dig deeper and make these REAL decades stations.

That would be correct because I am well beyond just hearing the hits over and over and over. These channels need to be REAL decades channels and not just playing some of the hits from a given decade. By comparison to my created Slacker decades channels these channels down right suck! They are predictable and stale most of the time.

Yes, I miss Super Shuffle as well. We have satellite radio. We shouldn't even be having this discussion. We should have every kind of channel that most people want. Why we don't have SS on SIRIUSXM is beyond me.

Didn't the XM decade channels insert news clips and other artifacts from the various decades?

Why not bring those back?

Yes, XM's version seemed more like real decade channels, almost as if they were really trying to make you feel like you had traveled back in time to the actual decade.

I get no sense that Sirius is even making any effort to represent a given decade. XM decades channels were hit based, but much deeper and yes they did throw in stuff that wasn't always in the top 10 and that is what gave it the wow and surprise factor because much of that music was good too.
