When the kids were in middle/high-school, they had a half-mile EDIT: almost a mile walk. And on some days, we'd drop them off. We had to deal with the idiot parents who can't follow directions. Here's the drop-off area.

It's enter-only on the lower-right, and exit-only on the upper-left. In between the two is the drop-off area. The student entry door is circled, but the entire drop-off area is under a covered walkway. So the idea is to form a line along the entire covered drop-off area, and then simultaneously have the kids exit the cars. You can fit a dozen cars at a time. Those dozen cars can drive out, and another dozen cars can move into place.
But the idiot parents - with their precious progeny - don't follow the rules (which are for everyone's benefit). They wait until their special child is directly in front of the entry door, and so the kids get released one at a time. And that causes the line of cars to backup into the street. Some parents try to avoid the whole thing by going to the school bus entrance (above the top of the picture), and driving down towards the exit line. That sounds great, but it actually backs-up the exiting of cars who are following the rules. And it's also illegal. But all of this is way back in my memories now.
