Disney to make new 'Star Wars' films

Looks fun.

It made me wonder how long will they keep Luke in these new movies before they move on. His cameo at the end of VII was great and it looks like he will be very involved in VIII. The trailer gives the impression that they will kill off Leia, which makes sense but very well may be misdirection.

They had Harrison Ford very involved in VII. Maybe they have a rule that only one is very involved. And maybe they kill one every movie.

I'm thinking, he could been asking to much money for VIII and that why they killed him in VII.

This story will probably have a dark ending like Empire.
Possibly Luke and Leia both get offed.

I heard reports that Leia would had an major role in IX, but now they had to do major rewrites. Disney has said, they will not CGI or kill her off. They will mention here somehow, like went to some planet to do something.

Maybe they can have someone else play Leia

I'm trying to find the article that Disney want to pay respect to Carrie Fisher, her family and fans. By not bringing her character back or have somebody else play as her.

But now every article I find now, says they will possible CGI and somebody play her? The podcast I listen too, I remember they said, when they did retakes. There is unused footage of her, they could possibly use that for IX?

Soap operas replace people all the time. Maybe they can get Madonna to play her

I heard they have resigned him for VIII. I figure he may be a OB1 type hologram or something.

I think that he didn't want to do VIII at all. They talked him into it for the fans (and a really big check) but the rumor is that he insisted that they kill him off so he wouldn't have to do any more Star Wars films.

I'd like to see the big theater chains come together and tell Disney to GTFO.

Disney Sets Steep Conditions for Theaters to Show Star Wars: The Last Jedi - IGN

"The high consumer demand for The Last Jedi, box-office sales being down, and Disney's significant market share leaves theaters with little power to rebel against these terms."

If the theater chains did rebel, though, they should look for Disney's small thermal exhaust port. I think it's right below the main port.

You can simply use your ship's targeting computer to find it, right?

With the talks FOX selling it movie rights to Disney, I didn't know that FOX still owns the rights to the original Star Wars.

This article link explains the story pretty good.

Does Disney own Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope?

The question is simple: Does Disney own Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope?

The answer?

No. No it does not.

And that’s the problem.

Back in 2012, Disney bought Lucasfilm – which includes the Star Wars franchise – for a whopping $4.06 billion dollars, allowing it to move the saga forward under new leadership. The deal granted Disney the opportunity to explore and expand the Star Wars Universe, creating a range of new offshoots such as Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Rebels, and fans around the world rejoiced!

Hurrah!

However, Disney’s deal to buy Lucasfilm wasn’t so cut and dried as many fans might have presumed and this is where the problem comes in.

Although Disney has the right to make new Star Wars films, including forthcoming release The Last Jedi, Disney doesn’t yet own the rights to the previous Star Wars movies – that’s the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV-VI) and the prequel trilogy (Episodes I-III).

As it stands, 20th Century Fox retains the physical distribution rights to the six movies.

In May 2020, 20th Century Fox will hand the rights over to Disney, giving the studio more control of the property, but that still doesn’t solve the problem. Come June 2020, 20th Century Fox will still own the rights to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

In fact, the studio owns the rights indefinitely.

There’s no set time frame as to when 20th Century Fox has to hand A New Hope over to Disney – no timeframe at all.

Why?

Because back during the late ‘70s, when George Lucas made a deal for control over merchandising, as well as any possible Star Wars sequels, the deal did not include Star Wars. As such, 20th Century Fox own the film.

Don’t believe us?

Here it is in black and white.

“Prior to the Company’s acquisition, Lucasfilm produced six Star Wars films (Episodes 1 through 6). Lucasfilm retained the rights to consumer products related to all of the films and the rights related to television and electronic distribution formats for all of the films, with the exception of the rights for Episode 4, which are owned by a third-party studio. All of the films are distributed by a third-party studio in the theatrical and home video markets. The theatrical and home video distribution rights for these films revert back to Lucasfilm in May 2020 with the exception of Episode 4, for which these distribution rights are retained in perpetuity by the third-party studio.” (Source: United States Securities and Exchange Commission Form 10-K – For the Fiscal Year Ended September 28, 2013.)

Disney tried to hide the Millennium Falcon with shipping containers — but it's on Google Maps
