There are rumors that they are talking to Ron Howard.

Ron Howard a good director, but this is Star Wars we are talking about. Not Apollo 13 and he won't have access to Tom Hanks when he directed the Robert Langdon collection. The only other space movie he help produced was Cowboys & Aliens. Maybe he can do it, since the filming partly started.

With these giant budget, franchise movies I don't think the director really matters. There is only so much input they are allowed to have. That's why I was amazed Logan still managed to turn out so well even after Darren Aronofsky quit as director. I'm sure he wanted to have have more creative control and the studio said no. I think Howard will do just fine in his limited role as a Star Wars director.

It's amazing that they can hit schedules like that on these big movies.

You're right. Makes me wonder how long they can keep up quality standards with that schedule. The first one was good. The spin off was dumb. I hope this December's installment is good.

Looks fun.

It made me wonder how long will they keep Luke in these new movies before they move on. His cameo at the end of VII was great and it looks like he will be very involved in VIII. The trailer gives the impression that they will kill off Leia, which makes sense but very well may be misdirection.
