I "ordered" the free repair kit. It arrives in "6-8 weeks".
During that time, everyone that bought a 15000E or 17500E over the last 12 years "from April 2011 through June 2023" is supposed to "immediately stop using the recalled generators and contact Generac for a free repair kit" that will take almost 2 months to get?? And then fix it themselves?? WTF!!

While I don't have any facts, I'm guessing that their portable line of generators are made by a lower quality manufacturer, and they slap their name on it. And the main reason they even sell them is to offer more price points for customers. Clearly, they don't seem to stand behind them.
But Generac's line of permanently installed automatic generators is the most popular choice of professional installers, by a wide margin (again, I'm going by my observation, haven't looked it up), so that's their bread & butter. I'd say Kohler is #2. And while I know tons of people who have the higher-end Generacs, I haven't heard any stories about problems or issues. If there were problems, the installers would've dumped them for another brand long ago.
I agree that a reputable company shouldn't treat anything they sell (or any of their customers) like garbage, which they're doing in the case of the portables. That sucks, and it shouldn't happen.
Reminds of me of meeting I had with someone from HP after they bought Compaq. I told them my experience with HP and Compaq computers were that they were cheap, cheaply made, problematic and disposable. She said, "Don't compare our home machines to our business machines." And I thought, "The hell I won't!"
Meant to mention a couple days ago... fired up the Duromax generator (twice) and hooked it up. It's great! Runs the frig, freezer, water pump, hot water heater, lights, computers and one set of electric heat baseboards (so I have to pick a room - but with the wood stove that's fine). As long as I can flush a toilet, wash my hands, keep internet (and thereby cell signal) and see my way around, I'm good.

One of the many wonderful things that comes out of my mother-in-law's mouth is "don't come visit, just stay in that little frou-frou town of yours". And I think "what is she talking about?" And then this morning, I see that the town bought brand-new street sweepers to pick up the leaves on our dead-end street of 12 houses. I didn't even know this was a thing.

Depending on your relationship with your mother-in-law, the free pass to never visit is priceless.
I had to look up the spelling too, but I was familiar with the term. And yesterday, I had to look up the most common spelling of Zadie (or Zaydie). This has been educational for all of us.
As a matter of fact, we've taken her up on that. On the occasion that we see her, it's usually at a neutral restaurant.
That’s one of many French / Cajun French words that’s still commonplace around here.
