A day after Christmas, Mrs. Scotch and I drove into Boston, and went to the Copley Place shopping mall in the Back Bay. The main reason was to get a bottle of the perfume she likes at Neiman Marcus. It was a lot more fun than ordering it online. She also dragged me into the Tag Heuer store, so I could pretend I might buy a new watch at retail (I didn't). At least the salesperson was nice, and she liked our story about going to the Monaco Grand Prix (they sell the Monaco watch there).
Anyway, the whole place had a nice vibe about it, and we enjoyed walking through some of the stores, and having lunch there. It would've been a nicer overall experience if the parking wasn't $42 for just over 2 hours. But at a time when everything is going online, it felt like the only saving grace for in-person shopping is with the well-to-do crowd; who prefers to see things IRL, and try things on, and be waited-upon and schmoozed and pampered.
