That's two SEC championships in 3 years. :)

As the winner of a major conference (even in a bad year), I'd imagine they'd get a 3 seed or 4 seed, minimum.

If history is any indication, they won't do well in the SEC tournament... they never do! LSU has won 10 regular season SEC basketball championships (second only to Kentucky), but only 1 SEC tournament championship.

LSU is a tough team to gauge. They've pretty much dominated the SEC this season, but I'm not sure what exactly that tells us since that conference is not any good this year. The Tigers seem like a team that could very well make a deep run in the tourney, maybe all the way to the Elite 8 if they get some beneficial match-ups. But I think they could just as easily get upset in the first round. They might be one of those teams that screws up everyone's bracket.

Very nice triple-header on CBS today starting at noon eastern time. Marquette @ Louisville, Missouri @ Kansas, and Michigan State @ Illinois. I know what I'll be doing for the next 6+ hours!

that flippin mu-ku wasn't even a game. anderson and the guys just wasn't in it at all. makes one wonder if the small accident the team was in the day before the game played into effect.

anyways, as long as they got it out of their system great, they'll get revenge at the big 12 tournament, and that's the one that matters most.

Yeah I was looking forward to the Mizzou/Kansas game all week, but it sure was a dud. Missouri was never in it. Maybe they can bounce back on Wednesday against Oklahoma. Hopefully that one is a little more competitive.

The Big XII Tourney this year is going to be held at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City (March 11-14). It's scheduled to go back to the Spirit Center for 2010 and 2011.

Ha! The Big 12 is resting its entire tourney hopes on one big man who is still reeling from a concussion - the SEC will still be playing after OK, etc. crash and burn in the 2nd round...

I agree, the Big XII isn't very good either this season. Very top heavy and not much depth as it turns out. I think Oklahoma is the conference's only legit Final Four contender, but that's one more than the SEC has.

Kansas is good and Bill Self has done a great job after losing his whole starting 5, but they're too young to get there. Missouri...you beat their press and they have no chance.

Joe Lunardi's new Bracketology came out today. He still has UNC, Pitt, UConn, and Oklahoma as the one seeds. Florida, Michigan, San Diego State, and Minnesota are the first four out - Bracketology - ESPN

If you look at his last four in, I think they all have more losses than the Gators - UF ends against Mississippi St. & Kentucky, I say they win both and get in.

Problem with ESPN is they don't hire enough SEC talent to push our agenda! Jessie Palmer, Erin Andrews, and Emmitt are a good start - but we need representation in college basketball reporting since ESPN is in the tank for the ACC.

Hey, at least Florida is on the bubble (according to ESPN) and your season still means something. Texas Tech hoops has been clinically dead since December. I'm jealous!

If she isn't already, Erin Andrews should be Florida's most celebrated alumnus. She is absolutely :ter:

Haha yeah, I've been trying to tell people that they've been playing better! Kansas didn't show up to play at all, but at the same time, Tech played a solid game and earned the 'W'. It's nice to see the seniors go out with a marquee victory like that...especially Alan Voskuil, who scored 35 tonight.

And who knows, maybe we can make a run in the Big XII Tourney and earn that automatic bid. :bs: I know, sounds crazy (and it is). But hey, stranger things have happened. No one expected Georgia to win the SEC Tournament last year.

It'll never, ever happen, but I almost feel bad for Texas now. Kansas is going to be a pissed off team in Lawrence on Saturday night. Here's hoping the Jayhawks run them out of the gym.

A&M is a hot team...the game was in College Station...on senior day...and the Aggies were playing for their Tournament life. Add all that up and it's not that bad of a loss for Missouri.

25-6, 12-4...pretty good season for Mike Anderson. He deserves some Coach of the Year consideration.

Hey risky, Mizzou might be able to exact a little revenge on A&M in the Big 12 Tournament (hopefully not though!). Here's how it sets up...

1st Round (March 11th)

(8) Nebraska vs. (9) Baylor
(5) Texas vs. (12) Colorado
(6) Texas A&M vs. (11) Texas Tech
(7) Oklahoma State vs. (10) Iowa State

1-4 receive 1st round byes


Quarterfinals (March 12th)

(1) Kansas vs. NU/BU winner
(4) Kansas State vs. UT/CU winner
(3) Missouri vs. A&M/TTU winner
(2) Oklahoma vs. OSU/ISU winner


So....hopefully you will not be seeing A&M again in that second round but rather Texas Tech!

By the way, Kansas State, Texas, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M all finished at 9-7 in conference. If you're wondering how the tiebreaking procedures work as far as seeding goes for the Big XII Tourney, there's a link at the bottom with an explanation. I tried to read through it and all I have to show for it is a headache.

RPI question:

What is all this ESPN analysis about bubble team's record against the top 50 RPI teams? Isn't this comparison bogus?
After all, RPI takes into account your record, your opponent's record, and your opponent's opponent's record. If you have a high RPI, that means you have performed well against good opponents!

Well sorry to disappoint, risky, but you'll be getting us tonight in OKC. I'm hoping we can keep the turnovers down against Mizzou's press, then maybe we can keep this thing going. Missouri is suspect away from Columbia, so I think another Texas Tech upset is possible.

But, even if it doesn't happen, last night's game was good enough. Mike Singletary scored 29 STRAIGHT Red Raider points (43 overall) to help lead the comeback against A&M. Hopefully that'll eventually cost the Aggies a tournament bid. Texas Tech vs. Texas A&M - Recap - March 11, 2009 - ESPN
