It's a sentimental choice. My wife was very into Donny as a kid and still liked his music as an adult. This song is one of the few of his I would classify as ok. The remainder are neutral.

When we went to Las Vegas a couple of years ago, Donny & Marie were playing at the Flamingo.
The Mrs really wanted to go because she loved them as a kid.
I did the right thing and indulged her by getting tickets.
The show didn't do anything for me.

I indulged my wife twice. The first was Donny alone. Then we did Donnie & Marie at a casino on our anniversary in 2017. That one we stayed at the hotel and everything (package seats front row centre).

My wife was thrilled both times. I was as moved as you were both times. But happy wife ....

Puppy Love is one of 13 Donny Osmond hits that were remakes. Here is the original Puppy Love by Paul Anka. He wrote the song in reference to adults dismissing his affair with Annette Funicello. This was a #2 hit for Anka in March 1960. The uncredited background vocalists are Jay Astoris, Daisy Evans, Calvin Goldspink, Stacey McClean, Aaron Renfree, Hannah Richings, Frankie Sandford and Rochelle Wiseman,

In February 1960, Annette released the album Annette Sings Anka. In her autobiography A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes she wrote, "Just because we were 17 didn't mean that, for us, our love wasn't real."
