Wow, compared to the previous list, this is full of good contenders. Sometimes I think the wrong artist won (like Paula Cole over Fiona Apple, or Hootie over Alanis), but the winner was successful too.

MGMT is an alt rock group that put out a strong 1st album (in my favorites). Similar with Silversun, but they had hits on around 3 albums. Ting Tings have had a couple of hits. Zac Brown is the most mainstream.
