Yeah the thread is about the artist, not the song. But we could start another thread about songs that have been big hits for multiple bands that have each had no other hits...that disqualifies it for a OHW doesn't it?
The assumption of OHW is the artist but it is not explicitly stated in the title.Yeah the thread is about the artist, not the song. But we could start another thread about songs that have been big hits for multiple bands that have each had no other hits...
Sugarloaf
#3 "Green-Eyed Lady"
#9 "Don't Call Us, We'll Call You"
I definitely don't know that second hit. Subjectively a OHW?
Edwin McCain
#5 "I'll Be"
#37 "I Could Not Ask For More"
I feel like the only one in the world that listens to "I Could Not". The only other song he's known for is "Solitude" (great lyrics!) but it wasn't technically a hit (#72 peak). Subjectively a OHW.
The song I know from them is "Summer of Drugs" from the benefit album "Sweet Relief: A Benefit for Victoria Williams".I know I'm posting these like mad, and it's not quite as interesting as when it started, but ... it's because we're almost to 128 artists and that will mean it qualifies for a big madness!
Soul Asylum
#5 "Runaway Train"
#20 "Misery"
While I think "Misery" isn't well-known (I rarely heard it back then and rarely hear it now), they have a few songs that are big on rock radio that I think the mainstream knows too ("Black Gold", "Without A Trace", "Somebody To Shove"). Not a subjective OHW.
But so do Dexy's Midnight Runners, and they are a one-hit wonder. They have their own discography page on Wiki. That should disqualify them right off the bat
Another controversial choice. 1 hit in the USA. 2 #1s in Britain and several top 10s over there. But so do Dexy's Midnight Runners, and they are a one-hit wonder.
