Samantha Sang. "She did?" Yes. Emotion featured harmony vocals by Barry Gibb and peaked at #3, not #2. It was #3 for two weeks in 1978, on the March 18 and March 25 Hot 100, behind Night Fever and Stayin' Alive. Now you want to know what song Night Fever replaced at number one on the March 18 chart, right? It was Andy Gibb's Love Is Thicker Than Water. I'm still trying to figure out how water can be thick.

Here is a version of Emotion by Johnny Mathis and Deniece Williams. This is the B-side of their 1978 number-one hit Too Much, Too Little, Too Late.

#11 "I Only Have Eyes For You"
#30 "Nobody Loves Me Like You"

From the Celebrity Death Thread 2025. I don't know either song. My parents were in elementary school when these were hits.

I know the first one from the American Graffiti soundtrack (my dad's record collection). NEVER heard the second one.

I remember I Only Have Eyes For You and I remember the Flamingos' previous single Lovers Never Say Goodbye, a #25 R&B hit and #52 pop hit, but I don't remember Nobody Loves Me Like You.

I Only Have Eyes For You
was written by Al Dubin (lyrics) and Harry Warren (music) and was originally recorded by Dick Powell for the 1934 musical comedy Dames. A version by Howard Phillips & the Ben Selvin Orchestra reached #2 in August 1934, a version by Lew Sherwood & the Eddy Duchin Orchestra reached #4 two months later and a version by Jane Froman got to #20 in November 1934. A version by Art Garfunkel reached #18 in November 1975.

Maybe they're like The Romantics

First big song: Not a top 40 but remembered forever ("What I Like About You")
Second big song: The highest charter ("Talking In Your Sleep")
Third big song: A top 40 but forgotten ("One In A Million")

As for "I Only Have Eyes", musically it reminds me of this (even though it's actually borrowing from "Hey There Lonely Girl")

Kris Kristofferson
#16 "Why Me"
#26 "Lovin' Her Was Easier (Than Anything I'll Ever Do Again)"

Don't know either.
My parents listened to his 8-tracks as a kid. It was painful. I think he was a bigger star, perhaps on country charts.

I should also qualify my distaste for him is his singing ability. He is a fabulous song writer penning big hits like "Me & Bobby Magee" and "Sunday Morning Coming Down".

Don't know either.
He placed higher on the country charts and is more known for being a songwriter (the Aforementioned 'Me and Bobby McGee' and 'Sunday Morning Coming Down', both classics.

Kristofferson also wrote Ray Price's 1970 number-one country hit and #11 pop hit For The Good Times; Sammi Smith's 1971 number-one country hit and #8 pop hit Help Me Make It Through The Night; Stranger, a 1976 #4 country hit by Johnny Duncan and Janie Fricke; and Carly Simon's I've Got To Have You, which appeared on her 1971 album Anticipation.

Pretty Poison
#8 "Catch Me (I'm Falling)"
#36 "Nighttime"

I definitely remember Catch Me I'm Falling, and was still hearing it in the 90s once in a while. No clue on Nighttime. I'd call them a subjective OHW.

#11 "For The Good Times"
#27 "Crazy Arms"
#42 "I Won't Mention It Again"

His two top 40s are 14 years apart!
Because he's one of the more known country artists for those two Top 40 hits alone, and they both get quite a bit of airplay on (what's left of) Classic Country stations, I'd call this one a no.
