Yea a podcast I listen to was talking about that. They didn't really get to the bottom of it. They all heard that same thing but then also saw stuff that said it was bullshit.

It would be really funny if UPS started a new ad campaign with the slogan. "UPS...Now with left turns!"

Heads up: If you're anything like me you can never have enough micro SD card storage. The 128 GB card is now on sale for $30 at both Best buy and Amazon, down from the usual $44 on Amazon.



I've wanted to buy a 256 GB or even a 400 GB card but they are way too expensive and these 128 cards go on sale a couple times a year so I usually pick one up every time. I did an inventory and with this new card I just bought I now have right around half a TB worth of micro SD card storage in my possession. Ha!

Sonofabitch! I just bought that 128 card on a good $30 sale and now they have the 256 card on sale for $89 down from $149. I think I need to buy yet another micro SD card. I'm going to agonize over this all day now.

Ok, I just can't help myself with these flash storage cards, I always want more. I pulled the trigger. At least my Black Friday shopping is now over.

I think my good camera takes cards that big.
I need to double check the capacity and speed to make sure they play well together.

This is neat. It popped up as one of those "what to watch next" videos at the end of some other video I was watching.



The look at the business is fascinating and the lighthearted quip about Amazon going after the shopping mall one day was cool to look back on today. But the look at Bezos is the most interesting part. He's 35 in that video and looks older than he does now at 53. Shaving his head helped but it's more then that and I can't tell what. I guess it's working out but could it be some sort of plastic surgery too? He looks like a totally different man today. And he was already a billionaire in this video so it's not like he needed money for the transformation. Fascinating.

I'm worried about a Xmas gift I bought myself. I'm a video game nerd and there are tons of Chinese portable emulators. Most of them are junk but I saw this one and some reviews of it and decided to take a chance:



According to the Youtube reviews, unlike most of these things, this one actually has 100's Game Boy Advance games and no repeats. I also like the Game Boy Pocket form factor. I know it's just another Chinese emulator so there is always some risk involved. The weird thing is that it says it is a Prime item and fulfilled by Amazon (meaning that it ships from an Amazon warehouse) but I bought it last Tuesday and it says it won't be here until this Tuesday. That's hardly the normal Prime shipping. It makes me think something is up. Hopefully it's due to the Christmas season and not because this whole thing is a scam. So who knows, maybe this thing will show up on Tuesday or maybe not. I'll have to wait and see.

For fun, look up the MAME project.
It's a pc based emulator. You can find tones of classic arcade games extracted from the original game circuit boards. I don't think you're supposed to play them unless you own the motherboard they came from though.

That's cool. Yea, these things are not exactly legal. They are blatantly taking Nintendo IP without licensing and selling them for profit. But I guess there are so many of them, and so many trash products on the market, that most companies don't even bother to fight it. On the gaming sites they usually justify it by saying so long as you already have a copy of the game it's cool to then emulate it. Whatever, it's a morally shady area but that only applies to people with morals so I'm good.

On my computer I use the Dolphin emulator for Gamecube and some Wii games. I also use Project 64 and Visual Boy Advance for N64 and GBA games. But it's cool to have a little Game Boy looking portable. I'd like to make a Rasberry Pi emulation portable but that is more work than I want to do and would wind up being at least as expensive as the system I posted about above.

A buddy of mine growing up was one of the founders of all of that.
I paid him a visit a number of years ago and he had a massive shelf in his shop that had a couple hundred motherboards sitting on it. He was one of the few that was probably legal with his collection.

I had tried it for a little while, but since I'm not much of a gamer, I never stuck with it.
