Adventures In Koopland

My aunt and uncle called me this morning and said they were sitting outside my work. A total surprise. They drove the 2+ hours down from Melbourne to drop off some furniture they got from a friend who is moving. So I now have a kitchen table w/chairs and some area rugs. They also got me a vacuum that I def needed. We went to lunch then after lunch they again surprised me by telling me to find a mattress store cause they were buying me a bed! Dude, this was a major gift. With the box spring and frame it was $1000. I know that's not insane for a mattress set but It's way more than what I would spend if it was not a gift. I went with the cheapest queen size bed they had that I though was comfy. Oh and they threw in a set of sheets and a bed liner. So now I have a nice queen size bed for my new place. It gets delivered on Thurs. I'm a happy boy. And lucky to have generous family.

Got the bed delivered and put together and it's fantastic. Haven't slept on it yet but it's what I want, a bit more firm than soft w/o being too firm.

Also got most of my stuff moved over to the new place. Alex is being super cool abt letting me take my time getting everything moved so that makes it way less stressful. Once I move Athena over there I'll know I'm more or less 100% in my new place.

As far as Laura goes, not sure if we are going out tom. She knows I mentioned it and she did say she was cool with going on a date but I don't want to push. I'll ask again tom and be cool w whatever she says. I'm playing the long game with this one cause she's actually worth it and I'm not just blinded by...well you know what. I screwed us up so it's on me to fix us. And she's an actual caring, good woman unlike the last serious one (who u all know abt) who was clearly using me yet I still tried to get back because I couldn't see the forest through the trees.

First night in the new place. I'm pretty happy. Athena is a bit freaked out. She's just been chillin in the bedroom where I first let her out of the carrier. I guess she's not used to being allowed in more than 1 room. Got my TV set up w an antenna. Don't have internet yet but I live right by a cell tower so my phone works great. I'll figure out web in the next few weeks.

It's really nice to have a condo that's all mine again. It's a lot of room that like Athena, I'm not fully used to after like 4 years sharing a place either w my dad or a roommate.

Now I jave a lot I'd work to do. The place is filled with trash bags full of my junk I need to sort out.

Yea I held off a day of posting. I thought it would be funny if I could wait like a month to post again so it seemed like i really ended things but I got too excited abt my first night in the new place.

Well Laura just left. We had a nice evening. She got to see the place and (despite how I had previously explained it to her) she could finally see it's a real, spacious 2/1 condo and not just a few storage units up together. We had a nice dinner and got to talk and hang out and things are looking good. We're not officially back together but this was a big step in that direction.
 
Was she impressed when you rolled up the front door and showed her your new place?

My real roommates are iguanas and raccoons. Iguanas are all over South FL but my property in particular has a raccoon issue. They get in the customer units and wreak havoc. I know how to fix the problem I just need to get the budget to do so. But that's the customer's (and my while at work) problem. Raccoons want their privacy and my apt is nicely closed off to the outside (unlike a lot of units) so I don't have to worry abt them. Also they're kinda cute. Also again I have Athena to protect me. She could take down a raccoon.

And my raccoons don't care that their species is supposed to be nocturnal. My raccoons roam with impunity at whatever fucking time of day they damn well please. It's actually kinda funny and reminds me of the ongoing storyline on Parks and Rec.

 
Let's tour the new place. It's still a bit messy. This is my 4th day here so I'm still moving in.

Living room.


Dining area


Kitchen nook. I'll move that glass table over there once I clean out all those piles of junk and it will be my breakfast nook.


Kitchen. This is probably the best part. Everything except the tile floor is new. Fridge, cabinets, light fixture, oven/stove, counters, sink, microwave and dishwasher all new. Plus I didn't have a dishwasher in the old place or my dad's place so this is my first one in years and I love it hah.

Guest bedroom. Not sure what to do with it yet. It will become Athena's food and cat box room until I decide. I have a room just for my cat. Hahah.


Bathroom. This is probably the least new part of the house. All they did here was paint the walls. The toilet is low to the ground but it has a nice big counter which is nice.


Master bedroom. So happy with my new bed. (And it was properly broken in already :cool:.) It's super cozy and I'm so lucky to have such generous family. Plus it has a really big walk in closet that I don't nearly have enough clothes to fill.


And that's the whole place! See. It's a normal condo...just happens to be on a public storage property. I'm so happy to have made this move! I'm loving this place!
