Adventures In Koopland

I was 37 when I met my wife.

Also until I was about 36 I had no luck with the ladies. Then I decided I didn't care and being single had its advantages. Then they started coming out of the woodwork. Girls sense desperation and I think they also sense when a guy is happy alone and can't allow that to happen. Can't prove the last part but I am sure they discuss it in their secret meetings.

Edited to correct my math.
Let's further hijack this thread. By that age, I was already in my 2nd marriage. I was never much of an independent guy. From the end of high school, I was always in or seeking a relationship. I likely could've married my first long term relationship, but she introduced me to my first wife, who I married at 23.

What's funny is in the period of divorce and dating at 33, the two guys who's houses I crashed at, both kick-started their quests for relationships as a result of my initiative.

you guys are saying this is all sad and thanks for that but im a bit sad but not nearly as sad as i thought this would be.

i dont love being single but im moving on to the next one...probably a rebound, i got one or 2 lined up...but ill find the one eventually. Im getting old, im aware of that, but i still got years in me before i really gotta worry abt that. hendrik was 56 before he met maryann.
Sorry to hear about it man! The dating world can be pretty tough.

Hell I didn't start dating when I turned 40, taking care of my parents took much of my time. Now I found love of life and I could see being with him for rest of my life? We been tougher for like year and half. There still times we have our fights and I sleep in the guest room because I don't want to be around him. After a while we get over it and basically watch what we say to each other. There are times to times, we don't have a lot in common. I doubt I will ever move out, because I bought couple things for the house and our dogs love playing with one another can't be separated.

You need to stay to gether because of the dogs.

I'm a fan of a cool down period when you think you're about to get into a fight.
The Mrs and I don't fight. Like everyone, we don't always agree on things, and as you can imagine, I probably give her enough reasons to get mad, but we keep it in perspective. Rather than jump right into it and start fighting, I think it's worth taking a little time between whatever causes the static and getting into it. A little time to calm down, choose better words, and even trying to see it from her perspective. THEN I CRUSH HER!!!!!!!! I kid. I kid!!!! We're getting close to being together for 25 years, and I haven't slept in the car or been to the emergency room yet. Yet......

So I was supposed to go on a date tonight a little south of West Palm Beach (like 50 mins north of me). I've been talking to this woman for about a week. She seemed great, she's 37, no kids and we spent the last few day flirty texting each other at work. She is Baptist and made that clear right away. I also made it clear that I'm Christian but taking a somewhat long journey back to the church. She talked a whole lot about church and God but whatever, if that's what she's into, cool.

So yesterday we're talking and I asked her about having a gay kid. This did not go well. To be fair she did say she wouldn't kick the kid out or anything but she was clear she'd never approve and the word "abomination" was said more than once. That led to a rather heated discussion where at the end she basically said that any other religion, Christian or not, is wrong compared to Baptist.

I mean I actively seek women who don't think the same as I. That's no fun. I want a challenge. But in this case it seems like she would never be willing to give an inch to my point of view. Either I come around to her way of thinking or I'm completely wrong. I need someone who will at least compromise, even if they still believe their overall view is correct.

Guess I dodged a bullet with this one. And an hour long drive. On to the next. I'll keep you guys posted.

Glad you did dodge that one Koop, sounds like she has issues.

When I started dating couple years ago, I found a guy I like and one of the main connections we had where we both were Jewish. Of coarse he follows his religion and I don't know jack shit about it. I told him, if he could teach me some things, which he did. After weeks went by, we had some things in common. One day, I made certain food which contain pork and it was like a sin to him. I guess I didn't realize that Jews can't eat pork. Excuse me I'm not going to give up ham and bacon.

After a while he introduce another guy to me which is my current partner today. As time moved on my ex became a good friend of mine. I can tell he was kind of getting jealous and butting in between my partner and I. The guy was becoming a whining baby and we didn't want that in our lives. We cut ties and block his phone # on our phones. Plus he doesn't know where we live now.

I guess where I'm getting at is, my partner likes church and god. But he doesn't attend it. I have told him, I sorta believe in god and never really attend church. I probably would attend one with him. He's not into sports, he attends couple of the games I go. We mainly keep religion out of our relationship. I know my partner would be a great dad and I doubt I would. My dad and I never got along and I personally don't care for children, there expensive and all the whining, bitching, complaining, etc.. That's why we have dogs and plus they are easier to take care of.

I wouldn't imagine if this stuff bugs him, but he moved on from it. Personally I would to marry my man, but he has no interest in ever getting married. Because of may things. That personally bothers me, I moved on and sometimes I do think about it. I never mention it to him. Our relationship is simple and great and we don't have any complaints.

The right girl is out there for you and you will find the love of your life one day.

For some religion is a rigid doctrine. My wife and I are of different religions. I am Christian (a rather left wing denomination) and she is Wiccan. She goes to special church services with me. I participate in some of her ceremonies. While we don't believe the same thing we respect each other's religion.

We don't talk religion to our oldest daughter. She is convinced her mom is going to Hell and wants to save her. My other daughter is probably anti-Christian. My son is agnostic. So religion is a taboo topic at family gatherings.

But good you got this out of the way early. 37 and single (not divorced) with no kids on the dating scene is a bit of a warning sign. Means she has quirks that keep guys away or she has a biological clock which is hitting overdrive.

My first reaction to this, is that a person with that degree of religious priority should be specifically using dating sites for people like herself. But perhaps if she's from the bible belt, she (ignorantly) assumes most people are like her (even though they aren't).

I guess I didn't realize that Jews can't eat pork.
Haha! I don't know where the F you grew up, but I'd guess that at least 75% of the general public knows that Jewish kosher laws prohibit pork and shellfish. The disconnect is that many non-Jews assume that all Jews keep kosher, but most don't. Growing up, my family never did, but my sister married into a strict kosher family, so ever since she's been doing the whole thing all her adult life.

In my first disaster of a marriage, I married into a Christian family, but the wife converted so we could raise the kids Jewish. That ended up not mattering. When I met my 2nd wife, we had talked for a while before realizing that the other was raised Jewish. Neither of us had said anything about religion when we dated.

My older daughter is anti-religion, but my younger daughter took an interest in attending religious school and having a Bat-Mitzvah. Oddly, the older one went to Israel on one of those Birthright trips, but the younger one did not.

Mrs. Scotch and I have realized that religion is less important than the fact that we both had similar upbringings by our families.

You are taking my words out of text. I knew growing up Jews can't eat pork. But I don't take it with a grain of salt. That guy took it as a major insult and tried to make me eat turkey bacon. I tried some and don't care for the taste. I don't care about the Jewish kosher laws. I personally more of an outlaw and will eat pork in front of an Jewish Temple or better yet inside.

I've had the nerdiest day ever. This is my first day off in over a week and I spent the morning and afternoon starting a new playthrough of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017). News came out yesterday that the sequel is delayed until 2023 so I figured I'd restart the original now. It takes 100's of hours to truly 100% the game so by the time I get there the new one should be about to come out. This is my all time fav game. Up until it came out Zelda: Ocarina of Time (1998) was in the #1 spot and this one usurped it.

Now I'm finishing off my day watching Star Wars. The original Trilogy. I'm almost done with Episode IV right now and I think I'll get through V before bed.

In other news I'm talking to Laura again. She texted me out of nowhere about a week ago and we've been speaking and texting ever since. Seems like I may be able to repair that relationship. We haven't met in person yet. Who knows? She reached out first and did say she's still into me but now that I'm making an effort she's playing a bit hard to get.

Also did a 4 mile walk today.

So overall a good day off. hah.

Major late breaking Koopland news!

Got the go ahead today to start moving into my new place! I'm off tomorrow so it will begin.

They really revamped the place. I have a 100% new kitchen. All new appliances (dishwasher, oven, fridge, sink) also all new cabinets and counters! In the rest of the place I have all new fake hardwood floors (they ripped out the carpets) and the whole place was painted.

Tomorrow is gonna be a busy day. I expect to sign the lease on the 16th and be fully living there by around the 20th.

In other news still been talking to Laura daily and I was all hyped about my place so I asked her if she wanted to chill and she agreed. We don't have a date set yet but she agreed to meet so basically I'm on track to get her back. We will likely grab a dinner in a few days.

I mean come on. I know I'm a bit a fuck up but I'm also a pretty great catch that is more or less irresistible to Latin American ladies.
