Adventures In Koopland

I'm not sure, but I think they can throw you in jail directly from the jury box.

Last time I was at this courthouse it was the beginning of 8.5 days in jail.

I called and they told me to come in tomorrow so looks like I'm going.

You know how you see those news reports about sting operations cops run where they say "you won free tickets to the football game, just come and pick them up" and then when the dummies come for the tickets they get arrested for outstanding warrants? Well even though I am a fully law abiding citizen these days I still think there is a chance this jury duty is simply a ploy to get me there to lock me up again.

Well, no jury duty for me.

Remember when I said this:

The device itself is kinda finicky. Having used it for a couple days now I have a bunch of questions for my May visit to the shop. My main concern is making sure that a reading that does not process properly is not marked down as a fail. Sometimes it will make me take the test twice because the first one didn't register and that is concerning.

So the car has locked the ignition and won't start. I called the company all freaked out and they assured me the machine knows the difference between failed tests due to drinking or failed tests because of other issues. So that makes me rest easier at least. I know I haven't been drinking so I must be doing the blowing wrong or there is something wrong with the machine.

Shitty part is I now have to get the car towed to the Interlock place. AAA gives me 5 miles free and the place is 4.6 miles from me so I won't have to pay but now instead of jury duty I'll be spending the day getting this thing fixed.

Good luck Koop.

Hawt.

Bogarts reaction is great.

It turned out to be no big deal. The tow truck drove me to the Interlock place and once there we found out that the device they gave me had a full memory and that is what triggered the 4 day countdown to locking me out of the car. I didn't know what the countdown was so I ignored it and was just going to ask about it during my May visit to the shop.

The guy replaced the device with a new one, no new installation or anything just a new breathalyzer that gets plugged into the wire that's already there and that was the end of it. This new device has a much louder beep to alert me when I need to blow so I like it better. The last one was way too soft and I was worried I'd miss a test from not hearing it beep.

After it was fixed I went on a good, long, legal joyride. Drove about 100 miles. It's nice to drive around and not be constantly worried about going to jail if I get pulled over or missing a breath test and having to deal with the DMV again.

I know that I was probably just going to sit in a waiting room all day and be dismissed without seeing any fun cases but I was kinda looking forward to going through the jury duty process for once. On the mailer there is a portion to send back if you need to get out of it. One of the options is "caring for a person who is medically incapacitated". So I checked that box and will send the card in today. I kinda care for my dad so it's not a complete lie. And sending it in the day after I was supposed to serve is probably not the ideal situation but I guess it's better than nothing.

Cue tremendous weight gain.

Yea, I've thought about that a lot over the past few days. I'm already a huge fat fuck and that's with cycling 80+ miles per month. I gotta make sure I keep cycling just as much now that I have my license back.

I have a license and if I ride 400+ miles per month I can just avoid being a huge fat fuck.

Plus there's a hole in the Miata's floorboard for your feet.

But even that isn't enough to work off this kind of meal:

Thanks to the madness we have cartoons on the brain.

It took 3 months but I now have a date to go get fingerprinted. Next Tuesday. Now who knows how long it will take from the time I get printed to when the results are given to my employer. Another 3 months would be nice but I have a feeling it will be a lot sooner.

Keep the faith and good luck.

It wasn't grand theft or murder or something that they would have to worry about you doing to one of the residents where you work.
It might just pass over.

I'm going to the dentist tomorrow and the doctor on Wednesday. As an adult I don't think I have ever gone to the doctor for a checkup so this will be a first. I just picked out a doc with the best reviews closest to me that my insurance covers. I'm pretty sure all he's going to say is, "You're fat, stop being fat. It's unhealthy. Also don't vape." Things I am well enough aware of already but I may as well get a visit in while I still can.

Along with making those appointments, I did some financial planning last night. With my savings I am good for a while if I wind up with zero income. If things get really bad and I wind up unemployed for an extended period, I can always cash out my retirement. I really don't want to do that because I'd take a sizable hit, but I've been paying into that thing for around 11 years now so even with the hit it would keep me going for a long time.

Also I'm not sure how unemployment works. I need to look into that. I think I can file for it if I get fired but I don't know. I'd like to stay away from that though cause it just feels icky. I don't need no government cheese.

It's good to be ready, just in case.
But don't go to the funeral before you know if the patient has died.
Getting doctored up is a good idea too.

Do everything you can to NOT touch your retirement.
If they do can you, do the unemployment thing to keep you from getting too far behind. You've been paying into the system for years, it's what it's there for. They will (probably) make you apply for several jobs a month in order for you to get the unemployment check. You have enough pride that you want to work, so it won't take you too long to find one and get off of the government teet.

This is insane. Why would you not get an annual physical, which (by law) is 100% covered by insurance? How do you even get away with not having a PCP listed with your employer?
