Adventures In Koopland

I guess I might hold off on mentioning the DUI, unless they ask, or if it seems like it could be linked to the job.
Everyone makes mistakes, and you took care of your responsibilities and it's behind you. Yours didn't have anything to do with your work.

As you can imagine, I've been thinking a lot about that. I think it probably best to mention it up front because waiting to be asked has the possibility of coming off like I was trying to hide it. I think what I will say is that I have a driving related incident on my record. If they ask more I'll be honest and if they don't it will at least won't be a surprise if it comes up later.

I know I sound like a broken record, but this whole work thing is making me crazy. If they don't do it tomorrow I'm pretty sure I'll be safe until Tuesday. They are not going to get me on a weekend or holiday and I'm working all through the long weekend so they kinda need me. If they do get me next week it will be nice to have worked Memorial Day because at least I'll get a check full of OT pay on my way out.

Annnnnnd...I'm fired.

Happened this morning. I would say I called it but I predicted like 3 different days when I thought it would go down and this one just happened to be right. Didn't exactly know what to do after the hammer dropped so I went to the movies. As far as getting fired goes they were nicer about it than I expected. I'll write in more detail about it later. Now I'm just going to sit around and do nothing for a few hours.

There will be major stress in the coming days/weeks but right now I'm kinda relieved. I was so nervous about all this for the past few months, now that it's come and gone it's a weight off my shoulders.

Too bad. Given the nature of the offense I could see them letting it slide. I would advise you to have a consult with a lawyer. If they did not have legal grounds they may owe you some $$$$.

Who had Tuesday in the pool?

That sucks.

So I've been looking on Craigslist the past few weeks since I was anticipating this and a couple days ago I saw a part time gig at Amazon as one of the listings. I went through the online application and today they set up an interview. Good timing I guess. I really don't even know what the job is. The title is "Prime Now Associate". When I look that up online it's preparing shipments but the job says it's in Boca and as far as I know Amazon doesn't have a factory here. So maybe it's a customer service gig? I told them about the DUI. I didn't list all the details but I made it clear that I have been convicted of a DUI. The interview will be next Thursday. It's only part-time but hell, if I can get a new gig a week after losing my old one that's great. At least I will have some fresh income and I can still look around for a full time job while I'm working there.

This seems too perfect. I know it's nothing amazing but the timing is working out too well. I guess I'll see if it really is too good to be true when I go in next Thursday.

Ha!

That sucks.

Yep.

Sorry to hear that you got fired Koop. You will find another soon and hopefully, that employer doesn’t care about your past background.

Sorry dude, but at least Charlie Brown didn't win DRC Cartoon Character Madness.

You didn’t hear Bugs gave up his title to Charlie.

Koop likes Charlie Brown.

Here's a question for you guys. Do you think Publix keeps a record of people who applied like a decade ago? There was a time at the place I just got fired from when I wasn't getting enough hours so I applied at Publix. They hired me but then, like 2 days before my orientation, my mom died so I blew it off and never talked to them about it. A couple months after that I became full time at my security gig so I never looked back. I'm thinking about applying there again and it can't hurt to try but I wonder if that whole deal will still be in their files. What do you think?

If it been over a decade, I doubt they have a record. I bet most companies keep a record for a few years.
