This week's drops:

I would have to check but my guess this week is likely the first week since late 1982 when Michael Jackson did not have a song in the Top 40 (unless you count "Eat It").

Michael was an uncredited vocalist on Somebody's Watching Me, which remained in the top 40 through the week ending May 12. Including that song, his solo hits and his duets with Paul McCartney, Michael was in the top 40 every week from November 7 1982 (chart date: November 13) until then, a span of 79 weeks.

That's doing pretty good when you get Michael Jackson in his prime as a backup singer!

And Jermaine was part of the chorus! Here is a 2022 version of Somebody's Watching Me by Young Medicine. The band formed in 2014 in Kansas City, Kansas. Bret Liber and Josh Hurst share lead vocals.

Morris Day, lead singer of The Time, was the second person to record Somebody's Watching Me. See if you like this version:

They didn't really add much new to it, but at least it still had a groove to it. The other version never really developed.

Rockwell's Somebody's Watching Me reached #2 on the Hot 100 and Obscene Phone Caller got to #35. He's A Cobra was on the Bubbling Under chart for only one week in February 1985, at #108. He released four other singles, Taxman in July 1984, Peeping Tom in March 1985, Carmé in June 1986 and Grow-Up in September 1986. Here is Carmé, which Rockwell co-wrote with Janis Tunnell. She also wrote Sylvie Vartan's Running Scared and Melissa Manchester's Energy. Carmé is a girl's name derived from a Greek word meaning "to cut." The name loosely means "grain cutter." This reached #46 on the R&B chart:

Correct order 1984.

I missed 2, and put 3 in there that weren't on this week's chart.

Paul/Michael "Say Say Say"
Yes "Owner Of A Lonely Heart"
Culture Club "Karma" #80
Van Halen "Jump" #10
Kenny Loggins "Footloose" #1
Phil Collins "Against All Odds" #2
Lionel Richie "Hello" #4
Deniece Williams "Let's Hear It" #38
Cyndi Lauper "Time After Time" #53
Duran Duran "The Reflex"
