Good 7
Okay 6
Bad 27

31. GET THAT LOVE - THOMPSON TWINS

You can tell they were out of steam by this time.

12. I KNOW WHAT I LIKE - HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS

Very forgotten Huey hit. It's not even on their 1992 best of compilation (already forgotten by then!)

But these ones (not even top 40) are on it: "Workin' for a Livin'", "Back in Time", "Some of My Lies Are True", "Trouble in Paradise".

4. LA ISLA BONITA - MADONNA

Alan said this song almost went to Michael Jackson. He couldn't see that working. And neither can I.

1. WITH OR WITHOUT YOU - U2

Me posting about this exact same countdown last year:
I almost went with "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" because I thought it came before this one. Glad I didn't!

Damn. This year, I did. Because I thought "Still Haven't" came before "With Or". Doh.

#99 Kool Moe Dee "Go See The Doctor"

Sampled later by Kid Rock when he was actually still a kid (and didn't rock).

Kool Moe Dee:
I went to the doctor’s office, I said “What have I got?”
He said “Turn around boy and take this shot”
I looked at him like he was crazy, and I said “What?
Ain’t nobody sticking nothing in my butt”

Kid Rock:
Next the cutie started rubbing my back
She put her finger right between my booty crack
So I grabbed her wrist quick and said, "Hold up slut!"
"Ain't Nobody sticking nothing in my butt"

BTW this is the same song in which he also sampled Howard Stern. From MarksFriggin:

Howard said years ago he was on the radio and got into a fight with a guy on air and told the guy to stick [Howard’s] balls in his mouth. He said a guy in Detroit wrote him a letter and he was 16 at the time. He said he heard the show when [Howard] said that, and wrote a song about it.

Won't get into the top 40
#45 Anita Baker "Same Ole Love"
#47 Cover Girls "Show Me"
#51 Luther Vandross "There's Nothing Better Than Love"
#54 Greg Allman Band "I'm No Angel"

Song titles, book titles and movie titles can't be copyrighted. When I hear the words "I'm no angel," I think of this:

I'm usually right on with '83 but I feel like I'm just not firing on all cylinders again. I know I'm missing some. Especially in the 'earlier' area.

Michael Jackson "Billie Jean"

Dexy's Midnight Runners "Come On Eileen"
David Bowie "Let's Dance"
Michael Jackson "Beat It"

30 good. No channel changers. 1983 was a good year.

"Sweet Dreams" is on week #2 in Hot 100. It will be #1 AFTER "Every Breath You Take" spends it's 8 weeks @ #1 (not yet on hot 100) and "Flashdance" has it's 6 week run @#1 (starting next week). Talk about staying power.

ETA: I corrected the missed #13 song and have revised my good count accordingly.
(15) 13. STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART - BRYAN ADAMS

#83 Gary Portnoy "Where Everybody Knows Your Name"

In case you're wondering why this rings a bell.

For many years, KIIS in Los Angeles played Bang The Drum All Day every Friday at 5 PM. The song reached #29 on the
mainstream rock chart in May 1983. Here is a live version from 1994:
