Will never get into the top 40
#43 Molly Hatchet "Flirtin' With Disaster"
Slight surprise.
#58 38 Special "Rockin' Into The Night"
I thought this would have been really close to 40.
#73 Boomtown Rats "I Don't Like Mondays"
A bit of a surprise.
#75 Romantics "What I Like About You"
A MAJOR surprise! This didn't hit 20?
#88 Rush "The Spirit Of Radio"
Shoulda been, but I know better.
#97 April Wine "I Like To Rock"
I thought this would have made it to the mid 50's.

Update: It looks like it was only attempted to be banned. The parents of the little darling tried to sue Columbia records. I think that got picked up and I heard about that in 1980 and assumed it was actually banned in the states. The DJ I was listening to may have also made that assumption. I have heard Geldolf talking about the ban hurting the success of the Boomtown Rats but I no longer know to what he refereed. In my defense, google never came up with anything in 1980 to refute what I heard.

There are songs I hated when they came out that I now like. A couple examples: Several songs by Wham!. I despised all their music. Now I like 3 or 4 of their songs and can tolerate the rest. Another is "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. Hated it when it came out now I like it a lot. I felt it was lame at the time.

There are several songs on the countdown that I like because I liked them then and they lock me into the mood and take me back. If I heard them today, I may not like them.
I think I have the opposite occurring. There were songs that I knew and unconsciously tolerated, but now I can't stand them. For example, almost anything by Gloria Estefan or Lionel Richie. I can't change the channel fast enough.

For a period of time after Katrina, Canadian radio stations refrained from playing "New Orleans Is Sinking" by the Tragically Hip. They are playing it again now.

Given Katrina is no longer a Wave and the group is no longer relevant, does it matter?

Right after 9/11, Mrs. Scotch saw John Mellencamp. In Pink Houses, he omitted "go to work in some high-rise", and he also skipped When the Walls Come Tumbling Down.

Given Katrina is no longer a Wave and the group is no longer relevant, does it matter?
No, it's fine. In fact, it could be a source of some light, harmless fun, like Hogan's Heroes.
