I noticed that Xanadu is not on my list. It would rank pretty high as it is a ***** selection. In my library, it is under Olivia Newton-John. She is the Album Artitst. She & ELO are listed as the artists. iTunes groups by the Album Artist.

I found one of those sub-$20 "Original Album Classics" box sets that contains several ELO albums :

"On The Third Day"
"Face The Music"
"A New World Record"
"Discovery"
"Time"

And then Amazon had another classic era album - "Out Of The Blue" for $4.99, so I snagged that too. If those half dozen albums light the geek fuse I'll dig deeper.

26 good. Looks like we got a top 40 peak this week too.
6 good in the debuts section.
2 good in the drops section.

Also chalk a second hit to Nicollette Larson.

I was trying to come up with a brief phrase that describes songs that I didn't particularly listen to - back in the day - but now I like hearing.
I usually have a couple of tunes like that on these countdowns.
Sometimes they are songs I used to like, but don't really listen to anymore.

There are songs I hated when they came out that I now like. A couple examples: Several songs by Wham!. I despised all their music. Now I like 3 or 4 of their songs and can tolerate the rest. Another is "In The Air Tonight" by Phil Collins. Hated it when it came out now I like it a lot. I felt it was lame at the time.

There are several songs on the countdown that I like because I liked them then and they lock me into the mood and take me back. If I heard them today, I may not like them.

Same for me. Disco in general was the death of music, for a rock fan. But now I can appreciate the musical genius of the Bee Gees, or enjoy the campy, silly disco songs that are fun to remember now.

38: THREE TIMES IN LOVE - TOMMY JAMES

This is the same Tommy James that gave us "Mony Mony" and "Crimson & Clover"? Yikes! Did he have his testicles removed?

15: ANOTHER BRICK IN THE WALL - PINK FLOYD

My friend's kid went with this one. I knew it was too early.

3: YES I'M READY - TERI DESARIO WITH KC

1: CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE - QUEEN

I guessed this one, so did my friend's old room mate.

#71 Jim Kirk and the TM Singers "Voice of Freedom"

No, not the captain of the Enterprise James T Kirk -- this is James R Kirk. I dropped this song in the 'patriotic thread'.

I want to eat American
I want to sleep American
I want to be American
I want to be All American
Oh we're the voice of Freedom

We're the voice of America

#73 Boomtown Rats "I Don't Like Mondays"
#75 Romantics "What I Like About You"

#73 Boomtown Rats "I Don't Like Mondays"
#75 Romantics "What I Like About You"
#88 Rush "The Spirit Of Radio"
#97 April Wine "I Like To Rock"
This week's surprises.
"I Don't Like Mondays" was banned on a lot of radio stations in the states. This would hurt its top 40 potential.
Rush is a surprise but not as they only had 1 top 40.
April Wine being Canadian had lots of airplay up here so seeing it doing poorly is always a surprise.
