80s0n8 Big 40 Countdown Schedule

Someone posted online that it will be 1987. I don't know how they found out, and I can't be sure it's accurate. But someone seems to think it's 1987.

We're roughly 5 months into my tenure as a radio DJ at this point, & I can baaaaaaaaaaarely remember either of these songs. Weird.

39. Money Changes Everything – Cyndi Lauper

I always wonder how much $$$ the writer of this song ( a guy from a obscure band called The Brains ) has made from it in the last 40-ish years. I know a couple people who have been thru similar situations, & you'd be surprised how much that money can literally change everything. Maybe they're not millionaires, but I know one guy in particular who got an old song by his old band covered on an album that unexpectedly sold millions of copies. And it basically paid for his house ( not a mansion, but a nice older house in a nice neighborhood in a big city ).

30: Call To The Heart - Guiffria
29: Foolish Heart – Steve Perry

Steve Perry might have left Journey for a solo career! The charts abhor a vacuum!!! GIT SOME KINDA JOURNEY-SOUNDING DEAL OUT THERE, PRONTO!!!! ( collapses onto fainting couch, sweating & panting )

13: Easy Lover – Philip Bailey

Probably my favorite thing Phil Collins has ever been a part of.
Not a whole lot to add otherwise. I like most of the songs on this chart to some degree...some I genuinely like, & some out of nostalgic affection.

That is pretty cool. So many musicians never make more than beer money or enough to buy a couple of instruments, and the few that make a LOT of money tend to blow through it. It's rare to make it big. Being able to buy a decent house after having the fun of playing for a while is great.

How much do you think they make from this?

It would be fun to find out. Since it's pharmaceuticals, I'm betting that they made out pretty nicely.
