I honestly never paid attention to the lyrics. I thought it was about expressing yourself. And it's got an awesome groove. Plus the melody has some nice jazzy bends to the notes.

Starting the "Never Heard It Before" list right from the jump this week, which is weird because I have his "greatest hits" CD & I assume this on there. It's not familiar to me at ALL, though.

Absolutely criminal that this was his only Top 40 hit as an artist ( he did have a hit co-write with Gin Blossoms a decade later ). His catalog is jam packed with great songs, & when I finally got to see him live after being a fan for 30-ish years it was one of the highlights of my show-going history.
