80s0n8 Big 40 Countdown Schedule

[IdRatherBeSkiing]

I think we're one Whitney Houston away from being tied. I actually had that album.

You are correct. For what it's worth, this song is the least objectionable of her music to me. They play this on the radio station I listen to in the morning sometimes and I don't change the channel.

[Aaron]

I like most of her 80s radio hits, not so much her 90s hits.

[MonoStereo]

11

I haven't heard the full album, but always liked the couple of songs that made it to FM & MTV.

It's a fantastic pop/rock album. There should have been multiple hits from it, instead of just "Kids" ( in the US, at least - I know she was always a bigger deal in the UK ).

[sadchild]

Either way, one of the all time great stupid videos.

Haven't seen it, but now I want to.

The 70's countdown nailed one of my all-time most hated songs this week with "Old Time Rock & Roll". And this is the version for the 80's.

Surprised you don't like either of these songs, I like 'em both a lot (they're both in my top 500 favs of all ever).

And what an awful video.

I'll have to check this one out too.

[HecticArt]

Haven't seen it, but now I want to.

I had forgotten all about the video. I think it’s awesome. Stoopid awesome.
It’s goofy and silly, and seems to capture his personality.

[sadchild]

Just watched the Wolf video. Not good. Not bad. Decent choreo. Silly theme. Very 80s!

[sadchild]

Good 8
Okay 8
Bad 24

30. HEARTBREAK BEAT - PSYCHEDELIC FURS

Alan said this was their second biggest hit. Nope, it's their biggest. Their only to make the top 40.

Forgot about these chart-toppers

8. YOU KEEP ME HANGIN' ON - KIM WILDE

My friend's son picked this on.

3. I JUST DIED IN YOUR ARMS - CUTTING CREW

I picked this one.

1. WITH OR WITHOUT YOU - U2

I almost went with "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" because I thought it came before this one. Glad I didn't! But I almost went with "Here I Go Again" which would have been worse, that peaked in October!

#54 Greg Allman Band "I'm No Angel"

Won't get into the top 40
#91 Night Ranger "The Secret of My Success"

I am asssuming this one is from the movie of the same name with Michael J Fox?

[HecticArt]

#54 Greg Allman Band "I'm No Angel"

Pretty close. I thought it would have been a little higher, like right on the edge of 40.

#91 Night Ranger "The Secret of My Success"

I would have thought it would have topped out around 75.

I am asssuming this one is from the movie of the same name with Michael J Fox?

It was. I still like the movie.

[IdRatherBeSkiing]

It was. I still like the movie.

I just watched it again a couple of months ago. I don't remember the song. I guess that is why it didn't break the 40.

[sadchild]

No Bevus & Butthead?

Whoops! Forgot.

10. ALWAYS - ATLANTIC STARR

[HecticArt]

And with that,
order was restored to the universe.

[sadchild]

Your Wham song is from 1985,

[hwkn]

This week in 84......Let's hear it for the boy #1......Hello #2......Time after time #3.....Against all odds #4........the week after Prince #57

[IdRatherBeSkiing]

This week in 84......Let's hear it for the boy #1......Hello #2......Time after time #3.....Against all odds #4........the week after Prince #57

If they go with the 05/26 countdown. SXM tends to use the prior week which would be 05/19 which has a different #1.

[sadchild]

This just in, they're playing 1981....? I heard them say 1984 last week :/

Guess I'm going with Sheena Easton "Morning Train"

This week in 84......Let's hear it for the boy #1......Hello #2......Time after time #3.....Against all odds #4

If they'd actually done '84, I went with Cyndi, so I woulda come in at #3. And my other contenders were #2, #4 and "way the hell off!!" ("Everything She Wants" was May '85, I think that's what my brain was trying for?)

Hello would have been #1. Cyndi would have been further down.

[hwkn]

Number 1 this week in 81.......Bette Davis Eyes-Kim Carnes.......Morning Train was #13
