Like (bold in my library):
34. EVEN THE NIGHTS ARE BETTER - AIR SUPPLY
33. AFTER THE GLITTER FADES - STEVIE NICKS

(this one I don't think I have heard since 1982. Delighted to find I own it (own the CD))
32. I'VE NEVER BEEN TO ME - CHARLENE
(I know I shouldn't like this one. I like the melody. Not sure why. And I own it from one of those $5 lost 80s hits CDs.)
31. 867-5309/JENNY - TOMMY TUTONE
30. HOLD ME - FLEETWOOD MAC

28. KEEP THE FIRE BURNIN' - REO SPEEDWAGON
22. ABRACADABRA - THE STEVE MILLER BAND
19. EYE OF THE TIGER – SURVIVOR
16. ONLY THE LONELY - THE MOTELS
14. TAINTED LOVE - SOFT CELL
12. CAUGHT UP IN YOU - .38 SPECIAL
10. THE OTHER WOMAN - RAY PARKER JR.
9. LOVE'S BEEN A LITTLE BIT HARD ON ME - JUICE NEWTON
7. CRIMSON AND CLOVER- JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS
6. HURTS SO GOOD - JOHN COUGAR

5. ALWAYS ON MY MIND - WILLIE NELSON
4. HEAT OF THE MOMENT - ASIA
3. ROSANNA - TOTO
2. DON'T YOU WANT ME - THE HUMAN LEAGUE

1. EBONY & IVORY - PAUL MCCARTNEY & STEVIE WONDER
(originally hated this song. Has grown on my over time)

Indifferent:
40. DANCING IN THE STREET - VAN HALEN
39. ISLAND OF LOST SOULS - BLONDIE
(never heard this before. It could grow on me if I ever heard it again)
38. HARD TO SAY I'M SORRY - CHICAGO
37. BE MINE TONIGHT - NEIL DIAMOND
36. HOPE YOU LOVE ME LIKE YOU SAY YOU DO - HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS
35. THIS MAN IS MINE - HEART
29. PERSONALLY - KARLA BONOFF
27. STILL THEY RIDE - JOURNEY
26. BREAK IT UP – FOREIGNER
24. WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I - RICK SPRINGFIELD
23. DO I DO - STEVIE WONDER
21. PLAY THE GAME TONIGHT - KANSAS
20. TAKE ME DOWN - ALABAMA
18. ANY DAY NOW - RONNIE MILSAP
17. DON'T TALK TO STRANGERS - RICK SPRINGFIELD
11. BODY LANGUAGE – QUEEN
(If it wasn't for my intense like of the band Queen this would have fallen in the dislike pile. Not one of their better hits.)

Dislike:
25. FORGET ME NOTS - PATRICE RUSHEN
15. IT'S GONNA TAKE A MIRACLE - DENIECE WILLIAMS
13. MAKING LOVE - ROBERTA FLACK
8. LET IT WHIP - THE DAZZ BAND

Despite being right in the middle of what I consider a great period to be listening to music, I found this countdown overall weak.

I'll admit to liking that one also. But we're not alone. That song was a major hit song in countries around the globe at the time.

11. BODY LANGUAGE – QUEEN
(If it wasn't for my intense like of the band Queen this would have fallen in the dislike pile. Not one of their better hits.)
I am surprised this song made it all the way to #11, and I couldn't wait for the song to finish... it's not very catchy and I see why classic rock radio disregards it.

Good 7
Okay 10
Bad 23

40. DANCING IN THE STREET - VAN HALEN

Never liked this cover (but it's not as bad as the Jagger/Bowie version). Like I recently posted, I think Diver Down is one of the weaker VH albums. It's like a collection of table scraps.

39. ISLAND OF LOST SOULS - BLONDIE
33. AFTER THE GLITTER FADES - STEVIE NICKS
27. STILL THEY RIDE - JOURNEY
26. BREAK IT UP – FOREIGNER
24. WHAT KIND OF FOOL AM I - RICK SPRINGFIELD
11. BODY LANGUAGE – QUEEN

A lot of "only a top 40 hit because the band is on a roll right now with better songs" songs. "Body Language" being the worst of them.

38. HARD TO SAY I'M SORRY - CHICAGO

One of those cheesy songs... that I like to sing along to once every few years (just for fun).

36. HOPE YOU LOVE ME LIKE YOU SAY YOU DO - HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS

The title is "Hope you love me like you say YOU do", which makes sense. But he sings "Hope you love me like you say I do", which makes no sense to me.

32. I'VE NEVER BEEN TO ME - CHARLENE

I’VE NEVER BEEN TO ME - CHARLENE
makes me miss the 'Movin Easy' channel. it was the perfect guilty pleasure for those long rides home after a gig with my metal band.

25. FORGET ME NOTS - PATRICE RUSHEN

22. ABRACADABRA - THE STEVE MILLER BAND

10. ABRACADABRA - STEVE MILLER BAND
Jumped the shark? It was his last top 40 hit. Sure it's catchy but it doesn't 'rock' like "The Joker", "Rockin' Me", "Jet Airliner", etc.

15. IT'S GONNA TAKE A MIRACLE - DENIECE WILLIAMS

Forgot this song existed. She does that weird/cute little "ahahahahAH!" in this song just like at the end of "Let's Hear It For The Boy".

7. CRIMSON AND CLOVER- JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS

I've come to realize that this is basically a cover band. "I Love Rock & Roll", "Crimson & Clover", "Do You Wanna Touch", "Everyday People" ... all covers.

6. HURTS SO GOOD - JOHN COUGAR

Interesting to learn this was inspired by acupuncture!

Songs that won't make the top 40
#58 Olivia Newton-John "Landslide"
#60 Cheap Trick "If You Want My Love"
#63 Bow Wow Wow "I Want Candy"
#64 Rick James "Dance Wit' Me - Part 1"
#67 Reddings "(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay"
#83 Scorpions "No One Like You"
#85 Greg Kihn Band "Happy Man"

This week's 'special edition' (like most special editions) was so bad I didn't finish listening to it.

We were just talking about what makes an act a one-hit wonder. Robbie Nevil?? He had 5 top 40 hits. He's best known for "C'est La Vie" and that's not even what they played!

What kind of concept is "summer one-hit wonders" anyway? Weak.

We used to have these Friday night "Rally by the River" things. No cover, food, beer, & bands. They would bring in all kinds of bands. The bigger the weekend, the bigger the band.

One of the weekends, we had some national bands playing. Nevil played between the local bands and the headliner. (Possibly 38 Special, Albert Collins, or someone.) The roadies were running around setting up Nevil's equipment, and one was particularly earnest about trying to get an amp miced, almost panicked. Another roadie whispered something in his ear. His arms dropped to his sides, he looked at the crowd, and started laughing. He set the mic, draped the cable behind the amp, but never did anything to connect the other end of the cable. Everything was prerecorded but the main vocals.
