Let's Dance was one of the first songs i saw on MTV back in 1983. I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.

If you say run, I'll run with you. If you say hide, I'll hide

Great song

I always liked China Girl with Stevie Ray Vaughn playing guitar on it. The 12 inch extended versions of both songs are better which 80's on 8 don't play.

Yeah, what makes Sussudio a road trippin' song??

You know what makes good road trip songs? Duets. Me & my exwife would always sing duets while on a road trip.

The B-52s Love Shack

The Pet Shop Boys What Have I Done To Deserve This.

I don't think of "Pump Up The Jam" as an 80s song, but I guess it technically made it just under the wire. Sounds and feels too 90s for me though.

However, there are a bunch of early 90s songs that feel like 80s songs and it's weird to hear them on 90s on 9 next to Beck, Nirvana and Britney Spears. Like these:

Nelson "(Can t Live Without Your) Love And Affection"
Gloria Estafan "Coming Out Of The Dark"
INXS "Suicide Blonde"
Michael Bolton "Time, Love And Tenderness"
Def Leppard "Let's Get Rocked"
Bon Jovi "Keep The Faith"
Aerosmith "Livin On The Edge"
Cathy Dennis "Too Many Walls"
Queensryche "Silent Lucidity"
Van Halen "Top Of The World"
John Mellencamp "Again Tonight"
Dire Straits "Heavy Fuel"

I call these "Neighties Songs" =)

Cheesy arsed video, but I liked that song.

There were a lot of song on that list I hated a the time, but the list brings back good memories. The ones I didn't like we're always on the radio at my first real job, and the rest were playing when I was out partying with my high school friends.

Good list.

35. INFATUATION - ROD STEWART
When I was 13, the sideboob in this video was the sh*t! But now I watch the video and think "ARREST THAT MAN!" (Go to 2:20 in the video)

26. STAY THE NIGHT - CHICAGO
Speaking of videos, this one is creepy, cheesy and entertaining all at the same time. Michael Jackson's video for "The Way You Make Me Feel" has NOTHING on this one when it comes to sexual harassment. Peter Cetera looks like a total sex criminal! Again I'm thinking "ARREST THAT MAN!"

25. RUN RUNAWAY - SLADE
Forgotten gem! I love it when I hear a song I like for the first time in over 30 years.

18. DANCING IN THE DARK - BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN
Bruce's "Black Album". That's what I call the album that takes an artist from 'having a firmly established sound and dedicated following' into 'all-encompassing mainstream domination (aka selling out)'. The biggest example is Metallica's Black Album. Usually it's a good album itself, but also starts the big change in sound from unique into mediocrity. Often, it's the last decent album from the group for a number of years. Metallica hasn't had a good record since the "Black Album". After 'Born In The USA', we had to suffer through "Brilliant Disguise", "Tunnel of Love", "One Step Up", "Human Touch", "Streets of Philadelphia", "Secret Garden" and other assorted adult contemporary pop songs. It's as if Delilah asked Bruce to write music for her show for the rest of the decade.

13. I'LL WAIT - VAN HALEN
Great song, great album, but damn that's a lot of synth. Dated-sounding synth.

4. OH SHERRIE - STEVE PERRY
Baseketball. Nuff said!

1. LET'S HEAR IT FOR THE BOY - DENIECE WILLIAMS
Guilty pleasure song. Like @semipenguin I wouldn't admit it back in '84, but I kinda liked it then and still kinda do.

Jeff Beck! I always liked this song. Probably because of Jeff's playing.

And there's nothing wrong with side boob.....
Just sayin.

25. RUN RUNAWAY - SLADE

Forgotten gem! I love it when I hear a song I like for the first time in over 30 years.
Always dug this one too. One of those I should put into regular rotation.

Fingernails on a chalkboard to me.

Great countdown.

Songs below I liked. Songs in bold I really liked. Not ashamed to say it either. Footloose was a great movie and a great soundtrack. Never heard of the Styx song and it kinda sucked even though I love Styx. Willy and Julio are fingernails.

I was in Okinawa from Jan 19, 1989 until Jan 12, 1990, so I miss out on most of that.

Some really bad songs on this countdown. Donnie Osmond?

Express Yourself by Madonna was not her best.

I Won't Back Down. Best song on the countdown.
