80s0n8 Big 40 Countdown Schedule

The self-titled album with "Is This Love" and "Here I Go Again" came out in 87. I remember listening to it all through 88 over and over, and being dead sick of it before 89 (and I've barely listened to it since).
I saw them open for Motley Crue in '87 ( hi - I'm old ), and really the only thing I remember about it was the introduction of one of their songs. I think it was "Slide It In", but David Coverdale introduced it in a VERY proper British accent by saying "this next song is about blow jobs". Which I found funny.
There was a song on the Hot 100 from the self-titled album in March 88: "Give Me All Your Love", but I don't know if "Is This Love" hit #2 before or after it. Either way I was off by at least a couple months.
Off the top of my head, I wanna say this was maybe the 4th single from the album.

There's a reason why I think the 80's ( at least the first half of the decade or so ) were the last great era of pop music. And it ain't because that when I was young.

Also - I would've SWORN Steel Breeze was a One Hit Wonder.

Subjectively, they are.
I saw that conversation in the thread. Call me old fashioned, but I'm a purist when it comes to "One Hit Wonder" status. If it was a hit, it was a hit. If people don't remember it, that's on them ( & the decline of olden-timey radio since the 80's ). That gets a little into "perception is reality" territory for me. No. Reality is reality.

Good 22
Okay 4
Bad 14

Further reinforcing that 1983 is my favorite year for pop music!

Heard this countdown four years ago. My previous comments are here.

23. BABY, COME TO ME - PATTI AUSTIN WITH JAMES INGRAM

One of my 'missing songs' (post above)

20. LITTLE TOO LATE - PAT BENATAR

Pat: It's a little too little, it's a little too little, oh it's a little to little...
Guy: Wait, WHAT??

6. WE'VE GOT TONIGHT - KENNY ROGERS & SHEENA EASTON

Swingin', which John Anderson co-wrote with Lionel Delmore, went to number one on the country chart in March 1983 and won a CMA award for single of the year. On an episode of Nashville Now, Ralph Emery asked Anderson why he sings the word as "swangin'" while his backup singers say "swingin." Anderson confessed, "Someone has to sing it properly – and I sure cain't." He also turned "pie" into a two-syllable word!
