The list didn't show up the first time I looked either. Several in my area are shutting their doors. It looks like the one closest to my house isn't on the list.
I thought the whole chain was closing. Unless it will become and Amazon outlet.

Verizon Drops The Weather Channel Because Everyone Uses Computers Now | BDCwire

Back around 20 years ago, I'd ride a motorcycle to work on nice days. Being in New England, I had to check the weather carefully before heading out, and I was constantly frustrated by the Weather Channel, because 99% of their coverage was on national weather, which was useless to me (and I'd guess everyone else too). I loathed that channel.

That makes a lot of sense. They already sell cell phones, so why try to compete with the big kids. It's better to share the overhead costs with someone else and use them to draw traffic into your store. They weren't making much money off of phones anyway.

I don't see anything in the new Radio Shack that will make it succeed where the old Radio Shack failed.

Instead, they should open 5 or 6 large stores in tech job heavy locations and focus on the maker community. Sell electronics, 3D printers, custom design and production services, etc.

Maybe RadioShack should rename it self to The Shack and dump radio.

Plus getting assistant from sprint there also hurting, heck T-Mobile just passed them up in subscriber growth not long ago.

List of United States wireless communications service providers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Verizon Wireless: 131.9 million (2014 Q4)
AT&T Mobility: 120.6 million (2014 Q4)
T-Mobile US: 55.92 million (2014 Q4)
Sprint Corporation: 53.93 million (2014 Q4)

Most of the "Weather Channel" is reality programming nowadays.

Maybe RadioShack should rename it self to The Shack and dump radio.

They did try to dump Radio from their name and they were unsuccessful at getting any attention from it so they went back to just Radio Shack. I think it's time they should just dump the name Radio Shack. After 80 years it had a good run.

I've always heard talk of Best Buy suffering the same fate as Circuit City. The online retailers are really kicking their asses.

Future Shop is dead here. It was as subsiduary of Best Buy having been bought several years ago. But online shopping was cited as the reason for the closure. Most stores closed. About 1/3 converted to Best Buys.

Oh I don't know. I bought my vizio off Amazon and it works like a charm. I also buy Apple computers online quite often. Only thing there is I can get Apple care and take it in to any Apple store with very little worry.
