I find this to be kind of sad. For years, you couldn't get near this place, families would wait for hours to get a table. But with so few people going to the mall, it's a "been there, done that" kind of experience, that people aren't willing to travel for exclusively.
The Rain Forest Cafe has closed its only Massachusetts location
Rainforest Cafe is an abomination. The food is horrible. It is owned by despicable Tilman Fertitta's despicable Landry's corporation. Landry's used to be a good seafood restaurant down here, owned by the Landry family out of Louisiana. Fertitta took over, turned it into a repulsive chain selling deep fried frozen seafood, bought up a bunch of other chains, and proceeded to destroy Kemah, TX and replace it with an amusement park.

An empty storefront would be a better use of space than a Rainforest Cafe. A machine that repeatedly kicked you in the groin would be an improvement.

Not a fan.

Please, don't hold back; tell me what you really think.

Personally, I have no recent info about the chain. I took my kids there once, when they were little, about 18 years ago. It was a zoo (ha!), and I remember nothing about it, other than the fact I had successfully gotten my kids in, and that I'd never do it again. But over the years, it seemed to be in-demand. Perhaps the takeover you describe, coincides with their downhill slide.

I use to be a fan of Rainforest Cafe, I'm with meme the food is horrible and I'm surprise the one here is still open.

Hell the mall where is located was slowly dying. But they incorporated an aquarium and a Legoland park in it, which both are outrageous prices.

They're in a strange position. People I know who used to frequent the store, have found that their brand offerings are eclipsed by more upscale stores like Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Neiman Marcus, and Lord and Taylor, which are now in more locations. Plus you have the spread of the premium outlet strip malls. And at the other end, you have TJ Maxx and the Nordstrom Rack, which sell at a big discount.

Up in our area, we had a chain called Filenes, which always competed with Macy's, and they closed a few years ago.

Have any of the 2015 companies gone under yet?

As for Sears, I wonder what will happen with Craftsman Tools. That seems like a part of the company that should be able to survive if they sell them through another retailer.

Walmart sells a lot of Stanley & DeWalt tools. They make a lot of stuff for Craftsman.

Maybe they'll buy the name
