My neighborhood Radio Shack is on the to be closed list now. Huge discounts on stuff I don't need. It's space is shared with Sprint. That part is supposed to stay open.

Our RS is closing and the Sprint store with it. My g/f daughter and son in law have to go all the way to Chattanooga now if they need to go to a corporate Sprint store.
Had I known they were switching from Verizon to Sprint, I would have warned against it

Since it's still 2015 and Sears and Radio Shack is still around.
I'm predicting in the future sometime in 2017 Payless Shoe Source will be closing some stores.
They were known for their Kenmoure appliances.

Even with all this writing on the wall I will still be surprised when my Kmart and Sears close. It seems like they will never die. They have both survived wave after wave of store closings and are still standing. I think a big part of my Sears staying open is that it is anchor to the Boca mall which is mostly an upscale mall (it has a Tesla, Apple store etc.) and also it has a Sears Auto Center attached to it. The regular store is never all that busy but the auto center does a ton of business. With my Kmart it too is never all that busy but it is in a prime location right off the I95 ramp in my town.
I googled how many Sears and Kmart are left.

Quite bit of surprise there are at least dozen Sears stores here in the Phoenix area, but of coarse there are different types of stores, the standard stores, home appliances and showroom stores.
9 Kmarts left in Arizona, 3 of them are in the Phoenix area. 2 of them have no Wal Mart or Targets near them with-in a few miles and the other one Target is basically next door.
So I'll take back the 2019 guess, but hate to say one day they all will probably vanish.
More Sears and Kmarts are closing in the U.S. and one of them is in Phoenix, that will leave 2 now in the valley.
