Tonight Memegirl and I saw an advance screening of "Eighth Grade". She's been a Bo Burnham fan for a long time. I liked the trailer but I kind of expected it to suck. It was great. We both cried. It was spookily on-the-nose in so many details. We highly recommend it

I'm with MemeGirl, I too am a huge Bo fan. Looking forward to checking this one out but it makes me kinda sad that he spent a year working on that when he could have been putting together another comedy special. His specials are so choreographed it's amazing. He has every second timed out like a Broadway show or a well executed NFL play.

I've watched so many of his songs over and over. Here is a small sampling:

Bo Burnham - Todays Country Songs

They are super funny on their own but just cut out from his shows, they don't do him justice. The way they fit in with the rest of the show makes them even better. I also have a soft spot for musical comedy. Bo has quickly become one of my all time favorite comics.

Last weekend, we tried the new Flex Brewhouse Theater in East Madison. They have leather seats but they don't recline and a menu of burgers and pizza. I tried the fish & chips. It looks nice but when the movie started it was so dark I couldn't see my meal and spilled ketchup on my dress slacks. I didn't realize how hard it is to wash ketchup stains out of my slacks. We saw they Rocky Johnson movie Skyscraper.

This weekend, we returned to our neighborhood cinema to see Momma Mia. It's going to be great having to dining theaters 10 minutes from our house. We will go to the one with the most interesting movie to see.

I was supposed to see "The Exorcist" and "The Exorcist III" last night, but I had a flat on the way to the theater. No spare in a Miata and the hole was too big to plug.

Today the Bags saw the new 4K restoration of "The Yellow Submarine". It looked and sounded great, but it's a dumb movie.

Meme Girl and I saw the late showing of "Damsel". We both loved it. It combines a bunch of different tones successfully. It's silly, gory, tender, absurd and realistic.

BTW, I forgot to mention earlier that we're enjoying the new season (5?) of The Affair on Showtime, although last night's episode was bad. I'm guessing that most of you are not in the demographic that would watch this series.
I was going to mention earlier this week that last Sunday's episode of The Affair was awesome; they really redeemed themselves.

Memegirl and I saw "Beast" last night, a movie about a young woman who falls in love with a rogue who might be a serial killer. Or maybe she's a serial killer. Or maybe it's an immigrant. It was genuinely surprising. We both dug it.

We might see Ant man or something this weekend. Then we got decide between the Flex Brewhouse or The Palace Cinema. Many things to think about.

I would check out Ant Man, because that film is better then the first and that rare Marvel can get a sequel right.

This Tuesday Infinity War comes out. I’m buying it and I would love to skip work and watch it all day long. So far that is the best MCU film out yet until part 4 comes out next year.

Last night I saw "Project: Metalbeast" and "Full Eclipse". Two werewolf movies for the blood moon.

"Metalbeast" was projected from a VHS tape. Two tapes, actually. The first had a horrible audio glitch. The second had a horrible video glitch for the first 7 minutes. It was the direct to video story of an evil government dude who tried to make a super soldier by giving werewolves (silver) bullet proof skin.

"Full Eclipse" was an HBO movie starring Mario Van Peebles as a cop who discovers a secret group of super cops who inject themselves with werewolf blood and have Wolverine claws.

Mario Van Peebles has a couple of tiny dreadlocks on the front of his head in this movie. I imagined they were his peebles.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is painfully stupid. I'm 55 mins in and I'm not sure if I can make it all the way through. I love the Jurassic Park franchise too. The 2015 one was good and the 1993 one is on my all time top 5 movies list. So far this is up there with the William H Macy JPIII in terms of dumb-ass plot and awful characters. 1.5/5

On the other hand, I saw Super Troopers 2 and loved it! Annihilation, A Quiet Place and now Super Troopers 2 are my favorite movies of the year so far. And I'm not a crazy cult fan of the original. I saw it once or twice and enjoyed it. Unlike The Fallen Kingdom, this movie knows it's stupid and fully embraces it. I laughed a bunch of times. Most all of the mocking of Canada, crude humor and physical gags were great. I like how they went for jokes (even if some of them fell flat) that other big studio comedies won't anymore because they are afraid of blow-back. Overall it was stupid fun the whole way through and a great watch. 4.5/5

I'm 2 episodes into the HBO miniseries Sharp Objects and it's good. It's about small town murders and a reporter (Amy Adams) who grew up there and now works for the city paper. She goes back to investigate and write a story and we find out she is all sorts of screwed up from growing up there. Amy is great. I love her in pretty much everything and this is no exception. The tone is also kinda eerie and that's cool. I also like this Chris Messina guy who plays the detective. I've seen him in a bunch of stuff but had to look up his name.

This guy:

Idk, there is something about him I like. He always fits well into whatever role I've seen him in. He's got a good face for an actor and he's good at acting.

Also the girl from It plays a young Amy Adams in the show and it's amazing how much they look alike. For a few minutes in the first episode I thought they did that thing where they de-aged Amy.
