There is a strong online backlash towards it. That one Leia flying through space scene was up there with the prequels for one of the worst ever scenes but that salt planet bleeding scene was one of the best in the entire series. Overall I thought it was ok.

That scene was completely stooped. Force or not, it was just a bad bit of pandering to Fisher fans.

Last night I saw "The Devil's Doorway", a found footage horror film set in a Magdalene laundry in 1960 Ireland. It's "The Exorcist" meets "The Blair Witch Project". The found footage gimmick wears thin right away. It is filled with jump scares and a punishingly loud soundtrack. It was unpleasant and overly long.

Found footage and the whole hand held camera thing should never make it to the big screen. After Blair Witch, it should have been finished.

Those things make me sea sick.

I like some found footage movies. I liked "Blair Witch" and "Chronicle". But this one had non-diegetic music, and a magical 1960 handheld film camera with lights and sound and no apparent time limit.

#MeToo. Chronicle was great. I also enjoyed the first Cloverfield. It got overused for awhile there a few years back but there are a hand full of found footage movies I really like.

BTW, I forgot to mention earlier that we're enjoying the new season (5?) of The Affair on Showtime, although last night's episode was bad. I'm guessing that most of you are not in the demographic that would watch this series.

Rotten Tomatoes ran a list of the best movies of 2018 so far so I watched 2 of them. The Endless is a low budget scifi time loop movie that was ok but really just made me want to re-watch Primer. The Rider is another low butget movie about a rodeo rider who gets a serious injury and has to figure out life w/o the rodeo. The cool part of this one is the main character and his dad and a bunch of his friends are all exactly that irl. And the star really did suffer a brain injury when a horse stepped on his head at a rodeo. It was a slow burn but a good watch. I like when first time actors prove to be good.

How a cowboy from South Dakota and a filmmaker from Beijing came together on the critically acclaimed indie 'The Rider'

Ruth Wilson and Dominic West are both great. I'm saving it for a marathon once the whole season has aired.

Have you watched the previous seasons?

This series is yet another in my list of shows that feature someone I had a crush on, who are now cast in the role of the hag. I've loved Maura Tierney ever since News Radio, but here she's the staid old wife who gets cheated on. Just like when Julie Bowen went from being the girl of desire on Ed, to being the conventional housewife who's 2nd fiddle to Sofia Vergara on Modern Family.

Yea I've watched it all the way through so far. After the hit and run mystery from the first 2 season I thought I might lose interest but they managed to keep me into it. I know Tierney from ER but she is my least favorite of the 3 stars. I will always love West from The Wire and Wilson was a great villain on Luther.

I always thought that Maura Tierney had her own hotness going on.
And hands down, Julie Bowen over Sophia. Don't get me wrong, Sophia is stunning, but Bowen is just...Better.

I'm watching Tully right now and I'm only like 5 mins in and even a full term pregnant, over worked and stressed out Charlize Theron still looks super hot. Got me thinking that I remember her being good and uggo in Monster but maybe her hotness shone through even there. I should check that one out again. Also I love Mackenzie Davis. She was the best part of Halt and Catch Fire and a real scene stealer in The Martian.

I liked Tully a lot. There is a twist in there that isn't the most original in movie history but I wasn't expecting it. Good movie and well worth a watch. 4/5

This is one of those series, like Homeland, that seems to come to an end, and somehow they make more seasons. But in both cases, there were times that it seemed a bit aimless.

Is Ruth Wilson one of those Aussies who fakes an American accent?

I took Meme's advice and googled it myself. She's British.

The Affair is one of those shows, where anytime there's an attractive new female character on the show, she's gonna be sleeping with someone by the end of the next episode.

I'm not gay, and I know the Noah character is an attractive older guy, but the whole thing with women falling over him is ridiculous.

He's a reprehensible person; in the real world, Helen would've just dumped him the 1st time and moved on.

Tonight Memegirl and I saw an advance screening of "Eighth Grade". She's been a Bo Burnham fan for a long time. I liked the trailer but I kind of expected it to suck. It was great. We both cried. It was spookily on-the-nose in so many details. We highly recommend it
